Hi there! I actually found this forum today and am already addicted! I am a 22 year old microbiology student at michigan state university. I live with my boyfriend, who is an auditor for the state of Michigan Auditor General and we have a very handsome mini-beagle/rat terrier mix named Peyton (after the wonderful and talented Peyton Manning). We got Peyton from a hobby breeder when he was seven weeks old. He's now 16 weeks and we've had quite a time with him! My boyfriend has had several dogs however, lived in a very rural area where the dogs never really came in the house so training wasn't a huge issue. I have helped with my sister's 2 and a half year old yorkie but other than that experience, I could use tons of advice! I've already come across lots of good tips so thanks!!

How cute!!!

I love the last pic of him in his jersey.

I would say the one thing you should be most focused on at this age is socialization. Take him as many places as possible and allow him to meet as many people as possible. As long as he has had all his shots, let him meet some different dogs as well. You may want to look into a puppy socialization class.

Since he was a bit young when you got him, he may have missed out on some bite inhibition training from his mother and littermates, so you also want to ensure you are not encouraging biting during play (puppy nipping).

Good Luck with him and be sure to update us with photos, he is a cutie!
