I'll have to get the name of the book, in our last grooming magazine they had a detailed grooming book with pictures and exact details. It was magnificent.

there is a book that the groomers at work order for themselves all the time, Notes from the Grooming Table. i dont groom, im just a bather so i am not sure how great it is, but two of the groomers seem to really like it. i can ask one of the groomers, she loves poodles and has three of her own that she does a lot of different cuts with. she has a poodle grooming book of her own that i always see her reading through. i can let you know next time i see her and see what it is!

if your poodle is just a pet there is no need really to keep them cut in the fancy show clips. I groom my standard poodle puppy myself (well I'm teaching myself) and she is on a lamb clip now (it's either lamb or lion). I basically have shaved her face, feet and the base of her tail, and then I use the #3 clipper (i'm pretty sure) and her body and just scissor her legs and pompom on her head. If you get clippers they will usually have a DVD inside that can help you cut your dog in the proper pet clip. I know the clippers I got had a section entirely for poodles. You might want to try that? What exactly are you trying to groom your poodles to look like though, if you don't mind me asking???

Julie- you have your baby in a kennel clip (the same length all over, excluding the face, feet, and base of tail). A lamb has bigger legs, and a lion clip makes the dog look like a lion (shaved body, but neck and shoulders left long to look like a mane). The BEST poodle book is "Poodle Grooming and Clipping" by Shirlee Kalstone. Has TONS of pictures, poodle history, and is a MUST for poodle owners!
