Not sure if this should go in the health section or here...please move this thread if needed, thank you.

11 month old basset hound. Has been on Royal Canin (large breed puppy mix, chicken) since we received her, with a short stint (3 weeks) on Nutro Lamb and Rice, then back to Royal Canin.

We have assumed that she has a sensitive stomach due to the fact that she doesn't take well to various treats, rawhides, etc. (causes diarrhea). Since coming here I realize the quality of said products is contributing to, if not causing the stomach problems for Bella. Right now she has a bad bout of diarrhea that we have been trying to get rid of to no avail. We've reduced her food, given her more fluids, and I've even given her canned pumpkin (which she did not like and actually worsened her diarrhea).

Aside from the diarrhea she seems to be perfectly fine. She eats, plays, and runs around as she normally would. Tomorrow I am going to change her food but have a few questions.

1. Is there any point in "transitioning" foods if she currently has diarrhea? I would be going from a chicken formula to another, higher quality chicken formula.

2. Should I stop the kibble for a day or two and give her boiled chicken and brown rice until her diarrhea clears (if that helps)? If so, do I then transition dog foods or can I simply go with the new kibble?

3. Which formula would you go with?

I was leaning toward the one with only one protein source, try to keep it "simple".

Sorry for the long post, and I would really, really appreciate the help, I'm sick and tired of my puppy being sick and tired.

I'd actually try a different protein source. If you've tried chicken and it's not working, try something else. Has your pup always been on chicken?

Are you sure you got the right pumpkin? Just plain ol pumpkin, not the pie filling?

I'd also suggest trying a grain free food if you're willing.

The pumpkin was the right type, it was not pumpkin pie filling. The only ingredient was pumpkin.

Like I said we had a short stint on lamb and rice which she did not eat at all. Maybe venison or duck.
