Ok, so Tidus will be 1 yr old in August and he still goes to the bathroom in the house. I walk him 3 times a day, and let him in the back yard throughout the day. But at night I let him sleep with me and sometime through the night he will go out and poop or pee on the floor. I have tried to crate him, but the **** beagle in him won't stop crying for nearly 5-6 hours (seriously). I want him to be able to sleep with me on the bed but I can't believe he will be 1 and still pooping in the house late at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this it could save your floor

Tidus is doing his business in your house and naturally it upsets you. One reason could be that he has actually come to associate this area with being a toilet.

There are a coupple of possible solutions that really should be done together. Firstly when he goes out take him to an area and encourage him to do it there. Secondly discourage him from using your house. This could be done by cordonning off the area that he uses and rewarding him when he does nothing and also when he does something in an area that you approve of.

All this encouragement and discouragement must be done actively and with a positive reward for the behaviour that you want.

Hope this helps you out?

Things that might help:

1) close the bedroom door so he cannot leave the room at night.

2) leash him, and put the loop of the leash around your arm, so that if he gets up to wander at night, he will wake you up.

3), bite the bullet and crate train the dog, whether he cries or not. Put a nice wire crate directly beside your bed, dangle your fingers in it so he can smell you, and I bet he does not cry so much or so long.

i was just gonna say clean the area where he's been going VERY WELL. no smell, no marks, nothing...and put a potty pad there. if he's anything like my dogs are he should use the potty pad. i know breeds differ from each other, but when mine went in one particular spot i'd clean it, put a pad down and they'd use it. it worked for me. :)
