Hey everyone! I know that most here are from the states, but perhaps you know of someone that could help... I live in Northern, BC and we are now receiving requests from Ontario to aid in PB, PBX and Am Staff rescues. Due to the recent introduction of BSL to the legislature, there has been an influx of Pits and 'look-a-likes' to the area shelters. But due to the bad press these breeds have been receiving, adoptions have halted. What they are requesting is that anyone who is travelling from Ontario to BC, and are willing to travel with some dogs (ALL EXPENSES PAID- for the dogs!) to contact Maxine at [email protected] or read below:

I am looking for assistance in transporting 2 staffordshire bull terriers from toronto/ontario to vancouver in the very near future. If anyone knows someone traveling to vancouver from toronto and is willing to take on these 2 dogs as extra cargo(ALL EXPENSES PAID FOR) please e-mail me at [email protected] These 2 love birds are are still in the shelter, and Juliet is getting rather depressed in the shelter environment, as well, we have the proposed ban to consider here in ontario.
*PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST*!!

Thanks for your help here guys...maybe we can get some of these guys OUTTA there!

Thank you for your offer to help- the dogs were actually flown out by another kind soul. But because of the introduction of recent legislation in Ont., I'm sure this is only the tip of the 'berg!.
Thank you again for your offer of help!

Okay- I didn't want to throw all my requesta for help on you guys, but I've decided that 1 or 2 a month would be okay... :D Or 3... You get the picture.
The SBT in the first post have been rescued and have found new homes in Washington, through a rescue organization there. It was great to see these 2 well-behaved and socialized dogs leave the province of Ontario for a brighter future in the West. It just too bad that the previous owners felt that they 'had' to dump these guys at an already full shelter... Different thread, though.
So this months rescue request from Ontario to BC:
These pups are in Thunderbay, Ontario. There are 4 dogs, but 1 recently gave birth. Sadly these pups are too young to travel and because they are PB mixes they will more than likely be euthanized. We are still awaiting word on these guys.
But there are three others: 2 10-week-old puppies, and 1 male. These guys will be humanely destroyed if they are not taken out of province. The shelter has agreed to release these pooches for travel to BC.
I will have some pics soon that I can email to those intersted in helping out.
thanks again

Here is a picture of the two Pittie X pups. They are 10 wks old. Sadly, even though they don't look pittie- one of their parents were, and due to the recently introduced legislation they are in URGENT need to be relocated.

That is the stupidest law ever created. I live in Ontario, don't own a pit bull actually I don't even like pit bulls but banning the breed is dumb. It's not the dogs fault it's the owners fault. Ban the owner instead, how about if people take responsibility for their dogs and make sure they can't get out to bite anyone. Problem solved. Pass a law that they have to be muzzled or fenced in and tied up. Paddlocked whatever but banning the breed is just no solution. What's next rotti's, doby's, oh and of course we need to ban those shepherds. Wait a minute I have a shepherd!

How silly if they didn't know that a parent was a pitty they would never know. they don't look it at all. And I so agree that banning a breed is not the solution. They are creating a very slippery slope!
Oh and soliel I love the piece at the bottom (fixed and organ donor). I have to remember to tell the people in my rescue group that! HEHE

They don't look it at all so why tell. They probably will be very nice gentle pups if brought up properly. I'm steamin right now the smoke is comin out my ears.
Can't stop stupidity but the sad thing is people in Ontario are still breeding them and trying to sell them. The Toronto Humane Society is full of them and trying to adopt them out even in Ontario. What will happen to all these dogs that only wanted a family. They are what we make them! They suffer now because of their human companions.

pit vs. staff

Can you tell me what the difference is between a pit and a staff. terrier?

Look at my pups - I know they resemble pits...but I saw pictures of staff puppies and they had some whites too:
