I am getting an ACD puppy this summer/fall (depending on which litters have performance pups) and I have no clue what to name him. My other dogs are named Kastle and Eden so I want something that will go nicely with their names. This will be a male and don't know if it will be red or blue yet. I have had dogs in the past named Midas, Mason, Madix and Kya (for an idea of the types of names I choose). I had picked Simmer for Jason's BC before we came up with Finn's name and Sketch for a sport mix but that litter is not happening right now. Some on my list:

Blade
Mojo
Mace
Shade
Gamble
Grit
Temper
Specter
True
Scatter
Outlaw
Hinder

One of the local flyball guys comes up with excellent names and some of his I like are: Snitch (Harry Potter!!!!), Exile, Banish

Any and all suggestions are welcome!!! :D

I second the Snitch idea! I personally think it's cute and just right for the classic ACD personality.
Try saying "Sit, Snitch" ten times fast, though. :p

I like Grit! A lot. And I like Snitch a real lot too.

Also, YAY PUPPY! Pictures of parents by any chance? I almost got a ACD before I landed on a Koolie. Traveler was the name I had picked out for my ACD puppy because I thought it fit. Luckily, I got another dog that it worked with too.

I am so jealous! Are you getting a Blue or Red Heeler?
Not sure yet. I am on 3 different breeder lists. The one that is ready to go in a week has both in the litter.

Are you not getting the supermix pup?
The female didn't come into heat :( I heard that a lot of dogs are off-schedule or not coming in at all due to extreme temperature swings? I want to get a pup this summer/fall if I can because we have a very flexible schedule but once we move, we will be more rigid in scheduling so this works better. Plus, we do LOADS of events with our dogs in the summer that are excellent for puppy exposure. Anyway, timing is important and I had my name on the supermix list, a couple ACD lists and a BC list.

I am not positive on which litter I am getting a pup from yet. Waiting for performance evaluations of the males to see if one may suit me. I just don't like Simmer or Sketch for an ACD :( I love Snitch but the guy runs his dog in flyball and we'd see him quite a bit so I don't want to copy. But, he comes up with GREAT names.

I love Grit! That is a great name for an ACD pup. Well, if it's blue anyway. Though it could work for red also. How exciting! I look forward to hearing about and seeing your new pup when he gets to you. I really like ACDs. :)

Grit is an absolutely brilliant and perfect name, especially for an Australian Cattle Dog! Really a great word to describe the breed - I love it.

I like Brick too. But I think Grit is still winning for me. Rubble is good, but I think it might be mistaken for Rebel a lot (though I like that name too).

Names come to me on my hour long commute to work - and then I try to remember them all so I can write them down ;)

Decker
Price
Bond
Pummel
Crunch
Tonka (I like this name but know a dog with this name, any similiar names? Like, built like a Tonka truck? :D )
Bazooka - call name Zooka! I like this right now
