Like i didnt have enough problems,Well i brought my boyfriend to meet my parents, and evreything went fine. My parents like him, evreything was good. Until I introduced him to Charlie. Charlie was friendly as usual, until me and joey sat on the couch together, Joey slapped my thigh, not as like a mean Slap, well, you know what i mean. Anyway, Charlie went crazy! He was just lying on the floor, but when he saw the slap, He BIT HIS LEG! He Didnt break skin because joey was wearing jeans but he still growled and latched on until i yelled and yanked charlie off. Charlie is just a Bichon Frise so he probably couldnt cause much damage. But Charlie continued to growl at Joey and not let him pet him and snap the ENTIRE rest of the evening. What can i do to make charlie like him? Has any1 ever had this problem? When Joey comes to pick me up at the door, Charlie absolutly hates it when i walk out, I try to pet him and he walks away or moves his head so i cant touch him.

plz any help would be great,
Fransheska

It is not that he doesn't like your BF it is just that he thinks he hurt you.
I house sat my parents place this weekend and everytime my BF slapped me on the arse Aeron would go ballistik. She got over it quickly because we started making a game out of it.
When she would bark we would start a game that involved more slapping and praise!
She got over it and I had a sore arse!

lol!

I would have to agree with Ashlea though. He probably thought Joey was hurting you, and was trying to protect you. :)

I agree; Charlie was trying to protect you. After all, this stranger just came into his house and 'hurt' his momma.

I would have Joey start to give Charlie some good treats when he comes over, but only when he is calm and quiet. Double for when the two of you are on the couch. You may not be able to 'cuddle' in Charlie's presence for a while until he gets used to the idea of this new guy being allowed 'space privledges'.

I had this problem last year when I took OC to a Robin in the Hood Medieval Festival fight practice. I had done it the year before that too but he was so little he didn''t think anything of it and just focused on all the attention he was getting. The year after he was an adult so when Chad (one of my fight partners for the year) and I started our fight with fisticuffs OC was not impressed at all and kept freaking out. I told him that it was alright and to settle which he finally did only cause he got too hot. After we were done fighting chad went over to him and gave him so pizze crusts from his lunch. They became fast friends and OC became used to watching me stage fight with people because after every fight he got treated if he was quiet!!

I would have Joey give your pup some of his favourite treats and have him watch you guys play fight but keep him tethered or something so he can''t get at Joey. When he settles down, treat him! He''l get used to it. A good dog can learn to tell the difference between play fighting and real fighting.

Agree with the protection response ...... A friend of mine had a chow and his Mom once playfully slapped him while he was taking a nap on her couch....she ended up with MANY stitches.

I would trust the dog's opinion honestly i am not kidding.

True story..a woman was working a hotline and worked beside a man that she was good friends with. He was very polite and sincere. Her dog hated him and was blantent about it. She had no idea who Ted Bundy really was.

A woman at the clay guild told me that not too long ago and i wasn't the least bit suprised. dogs know.

This is kinda different though. There is a specific incident that they can point to that caused it.

I had a little dog that did that. Mom would have to lock her up before she whupped on me. I read your post in a rush, i apologize.

Also Bronki was turrible jealous of any man i was dating. He would try to sit between me and Jim all the time;)
