Recently joined and want to introduce myself... My friend and I live together to share expenses and love of our pack of dogs... Didn't exactly start out with intent to have so many, but... how can you say no to great dogs needing a good home.
Our crew is made of of the following:
1 150 lb Newf (Samantha)
1 85 lb Golden (Maggie)
1 Shih Tzu (Max)
1 Mini Poodle (Monte)
1 Maltese (Cascio)
6 Bichon Frise's (Paris, Bentley, Jay Jay, Gracie, Julie, Vicki) -- all but one of the Bichons joined us when they retired from the show ring (We are one of the retirement homes for a great breeder near Atlanta) We got Paris because former owner really "wanted" to want a dog, but just couldn't put up with all that entails.
The Newfie is the only one we got as a puppy. I always, always wanted a newf and she is such a sweet, albeit spoiled, dog. I should have gotten her years ago. I am really too old to care for her properly. But I didn't have fenced yard, etc. then.
In any case.... we love each of these guys. Not a day goes by that we don't get joy and amusement (and lots of love) from the whole crew. Some people think we are nuts. Maybe so. But we got rid of anything not dog friendly. They are allowed on the furniture. Up tp 6 of them usally share my bed. The Newf used to, but now she has bad knees and can't get up there. 3 ofthers share my friend's bed. We have ceramic tiles throughout and a great floor cleaner. So I clean floors every other day. So what?
I am very lucky in that I can work from my home office. Corp. headquarters in Atlanta and I have to visit once a month or so, but otherwise I can be at my desk working and have my furkids lying by my feet. Newf is always underfoot because she wants to be CLOSE...
Hope to get know more dog lovers...
Dene
