Hi everyone! My name is Amy, I'm 19. I currently have one dog, he is a one year old Long Haired Chihuahua and his name is Chowder. Unfortunately, last Friday, my best friend, a Maltese named Ajax, died suddenly. He was 12 years old and we had been through soo much together. This is the hardest thing that has ever happened to me, and it is very hard for me to deal with. The other day, my husband informed me that he is buying me an 11 week old Poodle named Romeo (we're going to re-name him because I once had a cat named Romeo). Though no dog on this earth could ever replace or even compare to Ajax, I know that I need to move on and that getting this dog will be good for me. It's also pretty cool too because Romeo is only one week older than my son, Declan!

I have ALWAYS had at least two dogs ever since I've been born. My Dad is a German Shepherd fanatic, so I've had quite a lot of experience with them. My Mother is a Maltese fanatic, which got me hooked on the breed. We've had a total of 3 Maltese, 6 German Shepherds (Some we rescued and we adopted them out to good, loving homes), 2 Chihuahuas, and one Miniature Schnauzer. I also will rescue not only dogs, but cats as well.

When I get Romeo next week (the Poodle), I want to work with him, and train him enough to visit Nursing Homes, and Hospitals. The reason for this is because my son was recently in the hospital the week before Christmas. For all the children that were in his unit, they got visited by a few service dogs. Although my son, only being 5 weeks old, didn't understand what was going on, the other older children did, and I loved seeing how happy it made them! I want to bring that kind of happiness to people and children.

Oh yeah, I am also an aspiring Photographer! :)

Here are some pictures of my boys.

This is Chowder (AKA- Chowbie):

And because I can't resist, this is my beautiful Maltese boy, Ajax, who recently passed away:

welcome! I'm sorry for your loss of Ajax. It's so hard when it's sudden like that, you have no time to emotionally prepare yourself or say goodbye.

I have a Chowder too! Mine is a Chow mix - he's the scruffy/fluffy one in my signature picture.

Having a therapy dog is very rewarding. I had a Samoyed years ago who was a therapy dog - we went to an assisted living home every week. He loved it and so did the residents. I would love to do it again but the dogs I've had since haven't had the right personality - my boys are very sweet dogs but are nervous of new people, which is no good for a therapy dog.

anyway, look forward to hearing more from you and seeing pictures of your dogs!
