Hello, every one my name is Lisa! My family consists of my husband Brad, my two sons Seth(5), and Keith(2). Last year I was forced to give my rhottie to a friend of my mothers due to a neighborhood restriction, a cranky neighbor, and a 1500 deposit on a lease. Well, we moved and my mothers friend refuses to give back my baby. She is very happy at her new home and I don't want to tear her away from another family. So my husband and I have been thinking about a new dog, we have our concerns with the age of our human kids, but figured when the right dog came along, we wouldn't turn it down. Well, last weekend my sister called about a 9 week old pitbull pup. His 19 yr old owner was being evicted for taking on. She said the kid was going to take the pup to the humane society, where they don't adopt out pitbulls. So, we have a pitbull pup, we also have a 5yr old cat. Chance is our newest baby's name, and Merlin is our 5 yr old cat's name. Merlin is a nice old laid back boy. Chance is bringing out the kitten in him though. I love all dogs and I don't believe that Chance being a pitbull is any reason not to take him into our home. I believe that with the proper training, socialization, love, and attetion any dog would be suitable to live with children no matter what their breed. I have worked directly in the field I was a Vet assistant in an after hours emergency animal hospital. I have joined this community to share my experience and knowledge with all of you and also for some help and support, as when I was working with my rhottie I had no children to work into the training and so far this first week has been so exhausting. I know how to do this however it is a first for working children into the training, and with the children, and the puppy, and the cat, I can't think straight and would like some encourage, support, and help.

Thank you,
Lisa, Chance, Merlin, Keith, and Seth!

Contrats on your new puppy and welcome to Chazhound! Sounds like you loved your rottie a great deal to let her remain where she is. Sometimes that kind of love seems to be the hardest and i really respect you for considering everyone's feelings besides your own. Look forward to your posts and pics!

Chance is a cutie! I think you did the right thing to allow your previous puppy to remain in his second home. I also feel that your new puppy will thrive in your home and your children's ages should be fine so long as you teach them how to play and how not to play with their puppy. Congratulations!

Hi and welcome to Chaz! Chance is a real cutie! I don't really see pit in him though, he looks like a german shepherd mix? He could have pit in there though, you never know. :)
