Oh it's a really good movie imo, I've seen it twice already and I wouldn't mind going again. It's visually incredible, definitely the best effects I've ever seen.

BUT I don't understand being depressed over it. It's just a MOVIE!

I thought the movie was worth seeing in 3-D for sure. I think people being "depressed" are probably depressed over lots of trivial things and avatar has nothing to do with it.

It's also apparently ticking of some catholics too because it's "teaching" us to worship the earth and not God. or something. at least that's what the media tells us. But of course they don't ever run with tiny trival things for dramatic effect while ignoring what is really important. Not ever.

I loved that freaking movie. lol. And was sad when it was over, but depressed...really?? Hmmm...not so much, but it was one of the best movies I have ever seen and would recommend it. Actually I would go see it a second time in 3D IMAX!

Ha ha really..sigh.. Do they not realize that it is an animated MOVIE, not real life.

I have a friend that her son worked on this as one of the animators I believe. Needless to say I am over the top green with envy.

The effects were awesome, but the plot was kind of standard and predictable. There are actually a bunch of funny discussions online about that if you search for them. To me it was a lot like Cameron's other movies, predictable with some lucky main characters and a few others killed off to prove a situation is serious.

It also would have helped me if I couldn't identify some of the plants in the background of shots as very obvious earth plants. I saw it both in 3-D and standard, and the 3-D seems to just be distracting from the effects. The 3-D also has that tendency to make things shiny with I found irritating. Let me note that I vehemently hate 3-D as a medium anyway. Here it is 3 bucks extra for any 3-D movie, so no wonder Avatar is making so much money.

As to being depressed it's over, Why? It is a MOVIE, and not really a ground-breaking one at that.

Honestly, you can figure out the plot from the trailers.

I saw the previews as well and didnt feel like it would interest me. Well my friend got me to go with her at the IMAX 3D... OMG it was AWSOME!!! I saw it again over here in Germany, just in 3D, not in IMAX and it was still awsome! Really, its worth seeing =)

Or if you saw Ferngully! I love that movie. Also it has Robin Williams as a crazy bat! Avatar doesn't!
Me and my mother both instantly thought, "It's Disney's Pocahontas." I've seen it compared online to Dances With Wolves as well.

I mean it was still entertaining, but groundbreaking, really???

video would not work for me

maybe iam a bit wierd then....depression? No, but I did take the moral of the film to heart.

Being reminded of humanities evil tendancies is a bit sobering, maybe som' people felt that.

Emotions are not som'thing a person can help generally. If it triggered depression in people I don't see how that makes them a wierdo...they might think the same thing about the things that upset you ;) :)

in fact alot of the things that people get upset (or happy) about seem odd to me, doesn't make it less valid to them

HAHA, me too! And sleep in those amazing hammocks!

My personal experience while watching the movie was it was a downer while the soldier was back on base, talking in his video recorder, and happy when he was back on Pandora in his Na'vi body. lol
