Hello everyone, I'm new and have some questions. I recently adopted a dog that is a Australian Cattle Dog/German Shorthair Pointer mix. She's a sweetheart with an excellent temperment. Some great characteristics are that she didn't seem to inherit any dog or non-canine aggression that is common in either breed. However, she is extremely active as you would guess and loves to be around her people.

I took her on because I knew she would have energy and that I could perhaps provide her with an outlet for it, as I run extensively, go hiking, and am just very open to new physical activities. My question is, aside from running and hiking, what would be some great ways to see she gets adequate exercise? I've done research and have been looking into doggie backpacks, which I've heard can give the dog a feeling of "purpose" so to speak as she is partially a working breed. As well, I've looked into agility which I think will give her not only ample exercise, but train her to be disciplined and more amiable with other dogs, provided she is exposed to them during obediance and agility training.

However, if you have any insight on what I can do to keep her exercised, how MUCH you think is enough (or too much). I know it depends on what kind of shape the dog is in and in general VARIES from dog to dog, but any thoughts would be appreciated. I see mental and physical stimulation as being paramount for her and I do want to provide her with everything I can to make her a great companion.

Anyway, that was longer than I expected (usually is). Any advice or response is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Something else I'd like to throw in; how do you feel about a raw food diet? I have done research and have heard mixed feelings, so, any comments would be appreciated.
