Augh last night I was accidently bitten THREE times from Teags while playing with her. After the third time I was so ready to give up our game. She bit me twice on the finger and one on the foot. Silly dog. And they hurt so darn much! I have a nice little blood blister on my pointer finger from the savage animal! :rofl1:

Have you guys ever been accidently bitten by your dogs while playing with them.

A few times by Armani when I was feeding him (like handing him a piece of chicken or something) when he was younger... thats when I decided to teach the gentle command, lol. Now were all good.

Not while playing. Zo would try to bite me at the end of an agility run (just that high) I would usually try to cue a down for a few seconds while she calmed down. On a few occasions I didn't get the cue in fast enough and she grabbed my arm.

Dekka has got me a couple of times when I have gotten in the way of a snark fest in public places. But I would rather I stick my hand in and grab her than let her get in a fight. (she is normally very good at avoiding my hand, but I don't blame her if I stick my hand in her mouth when she is snarling and snapping)

Oh heck yes.

Finn's hilarious though. He has excellent bite inhibition, but he is very grabby at his toys while you play with him, and every so often he'll accidentally catch my hand with a tooth. I always call him on it with a YOWCH, and he backs off and looks at me like I just bit HIM. :)

Yes, but only as a puppy. We used the "yelp!", turn and walk away. We also played tug of war with a rope toy, and when he touched our skin with a tooth, the game stopped immediatly, turn and walk away. No scolding or explanations.

Same with Teags, she has great bite inhinition, but also very grabby and she likes to place her toy on my hands or feet in this case and she bites and grabs at it while the toys there. I always yell a Yowch as well, but she always looks at me like "get over it!" and continues to grab ha ha.

Just about daily. All accidental. I don't correct, "yelp" and walk away, nothing. Sometimes it hurts like heck but you shake it off and keep going.

Yes, I've wound Lacey up playing tug and she missed and got my arm instead of the tug. Bit the crap out of me, and did "slinky dog" afterwards, I know she didn't mean it, but it broke skin and boy did it hurt!

Yep. Kyra's the worst. She'll bite both the toy and you. I've always said "OW!" and she won't do it again. My Mom on the other hand has never corrected her and Kyra doesn't think twice about biting her while playing. Or if my mom stops playing she'll bite at her feet or hands. That evil little dog gets away with anything.

I was nipped the other night while playing with Ripley, but it hardly left a mark. Dance has accidentally bitten me in play before as well -- she doesn't have good bite inhibition at all. Hasn't happened in a long time, though.

The bites I recieved in play though don't really count as bites to me. They're more like scrapes/knicks and are nothing compared to the bite I got accidentally when Ripley and his brother got into a fight... still not sure which dog it was, but it didn't matter. Whoever it was absolutely did not mean to do it, but it sure hurt!

yeah baout a hundred times at LEAST!

Scamp bites during rough play with me but I have been getting better at predicting when he is to excited and cueing a sit stay or distracting him in some other way.

Fudge very rarely bites but he has nailed me HARD before in play (usually tugging) and does his slinky dog act afterwards that always makes ME feel guilty LOL .

To be fair , Ollie wasn't out to bite me . My other Golden showed him how to nibble on a rib bone when I held it . Well , we were showing Seger how and Seger tried to grab the bone , and Ollie changed his position with a grab and my finger was in the way. Definately my fault ! We used to be able to have up to 3 on a bone just nibbling off the meat .

No. :) Gonzo and Fozzie have perfect bite inhibition, and neither of them are grabby or mouthy, ever. I hate that. They have never bitten anyone/thing. I'm sooo glad that Gonzo has amazing bite inhibition, or his "people herding" hobby would be far more dangerous!

I've been bitten once, and that was when I first started working at the hotel, by a 6 month old Maltese who was definitely FEAR BITING... not play biting. I opened to door to her room and kneeled down and she just ran over and bit me. It was only a scratch, but it was very upsetting. A 6 month old Maltese puppy fear biting?! Oy vey.

I don't know why, but I have a knack for teaching puppies bite inhibition, and ending the game before it ever gets to the point of biting. And I play biteyhands with all of the puppies I've known/raised. I can tell when they're getting wound up and I don't give them the chance to bite.

my dogs are boring and don't play ;)

I did, however, walk a 60lb or so pit bull down the hall at the SPCA to the door at the end (to put him out in a yard to meet someone interested in adopting). We made it all the way down to the end without incident (him on my L, kennels to the R) when the twin idiot rottweilers in the last kennels started bouncing off the kennel and barking their fool heads off. My right arm and left leg went forward to push the glass door open, JUST as Tank lunged R to snap at the Rotts. He snapped my kneecap, instead :( He didn't break the skin, but for the MAYBE .5seconds he had me, it felt like a vice grip! Bruised for months, but I mostly felt bad for him. He let go immediately and the whole time we were outside he kept coming up and offering appeasement behaviors (totally not his usual MO, lol) I think that's been my only accidental bite... I was purposely bitten by a mini schnauzer as a kindergartener (on the thumb, totally my fault.) and tons in a veterinary setting ;)
