Haute Couture or "High Sewing" is the custom made, creme de la creme range of designer collections. Only a handful of designer houses are able to create, show and officially refer to their collections as "Haute Couture" - the shows MUST happen in Paris every January or July and must be active members of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture. Outfits are strictly sold by special order only and prices usually start at about 35 - 40 Thousand Euros for "daywear" - comprising usually of a skirt suit or a skirt and blouse ensemble, climbing to 100,000 and more for fur coats, evening gowns, heavily embroidered pieces, or wedding gowns.

Designers that show couture on a regular basis include Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Ralph Rucci, Giorgio Armani, Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Giambattista Valli etc

I'm lucky enough to own two couture samples (the actual dress that went on the runway, was sent out to magazines for shoots etc) that I acquired at considerably lower prices from Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent - the fit and feel of them is amazing but they definitely aren't the clothes I'd pick out for handling my puppy in LOL

This was the first exit in the Givenchy show for this Fall 2012 season and I just had to post -

LOVE...

Other pieces that are part of my dream wardrobe...

Black and silver is pretty much the most gorgeous coloration for a shepherd EVER IMO and I don't care if it's too washed out lol. Good looking dog regardless of color but if he isn't photoshopped I think I'm in love.

Also pretty interesting to read your blurb about haute couture--I am not a fashion person but cool to know a bit about it and that was nicely explained. I quite like the second-last dress.

It's funny whenever I thought of haute couture it was always of those dresses and such that are, quite frankly, BIZARRE lol hopefully you know what I mean, they're items I don't think anyone would actually wear anywhere lol.
