"(My friend's cats are the first I've seen that steal socks.)"

When I bring groceries home, I ball up the plastic bags, and put them inside a large paper bag. Sometimes I miss when I throw them...a couple of my cats with run up as soon as it drops and carry it off somewhere, LOL.
My Sphynx cat has also stolen socks...no fur, so I guess it's a good reason to steal clothing!

Anywho, the oddest thing my dogs have ever eaten...most of them are pretty good about not eating things that don't smell like their food. But, ChinChin, one of my Chows, once ate the head off of a bobble head dog I had. Only a fiew little bits were left...ears, some cheek, maybe a chin, LOL.

Fozzie doesn't really eat anything strange... he just chews things up & spits them out. He once ate a fake grape, that came out whole. :p He also ate an almost completely full, expensive jar of Betta pellets that I had just ordered. :<

Gonzo is basically perfect, in that he doesn't destroy or eat anything.

Chinchow... I am sooo jealous of your Sphynx!!!!

I hope everyone can see this picture! Some of you might already know why he is wearing the lampshade (we're new members here so I told my story at intro). But Riddick has a taste for men's dress socks. The bf doesn't know how to clean his house! It isn't just dress socks but underwear, sticks, handles on pull toys. Anyways the dress sock had to be surgically removed.:( Poor Sir. He didn't even have a chance against those socks. He holds the record for most socks eaten in one sitting (5)! Four came up naturally. Needless to say my bf has a hamper I bought him and I watch Riddick like a hawk. It is clearly amazing what dogs think is yummy!

OOH - HOW SCARY!!

Glad to here your dog is OK though. It is odd when you think of it that a dog would eat 5 socks. That can't possibly taste good or feel good going down!!

OC used to eat gravel like it was candy as a puppy....

At the mushing kennel all the dogs that live there and any dog that visits there gets turned into a ""candy dog"" LOL They get any kind of hard candy so long as there isnt gooey stuff in the middle or any chocolate.

While the x-rays are vivid in my memory, I'm guessing at which dog did it. Most of them have had the same doctor and I can vividly see in my mind's eye Dr. B coming into the exam room laughing. One of the dogs (I think it was Trouble in her young days when she got into everything) had gotten sick and Dr. B had said there was an obstruction in her intestine and she was in for x-rays, etc. The x-ray showed a screw (lots of dogs swallow screws) but this one had the bolt and nut attached!! Because of the position of the paraphanial, he decided not to operate, but did keep her overnight after giving her a laxative.

She survived, but the memory of that x-ray with a clear screw with a bolt and nut attached still drive me up the wall. In fact, thinking back on the things she did as a puppy, I don't understand how she made it to 11 years old.
