I have not personally used it but I know a lot of people who do use it and like it.

I find the wee wee pads easier because you can just pick them up and throw them away... But I think people find these easier to train on.

I guess it depends on the size of dog and the living circumstances .

Personaly I find that discusting. I couldnt have that in my house.
^This^

Any dog in my house WILL go outside no matter how small, i will not have my house used as a toilet even if on pads or patches; it does still smell, i can always tell i'm in a house that uses pee pads or these potty apparatuses (excluding litter boxes most of the time). I personally know plenty of 3lb Chihuahuas that'll go outside no problem even in -50C weather with a little jacket on so no dog is impossible to train to go outside.

I would agree although I suppose if you lived in an apartment or something where it was a PITA to go outside 100 times a day with a puppy, something like this would probably be helpful. I don't think I would personally want to use one of these just because it's more convenient to just have the dog go outside, but I don't really think it's any different than having a cat use a litter box.

Not going to go into a long post here because 1) its late and 2) my opinions can be found in other similar posts on the topic but a few short points.

1. What works for one person, does not work for all people.

2. If used correctly, pee pads DO NOT make someones house smell... if they are already a dirty person who has no idea how to clean, then yes maybe... but I guarantee their house would smell without them.

3. I find cat litter boxes MUCH harder to keep clean/ smelling good. Even so, I know people with litter boxes where you cant tell they have them because they keep them cleaned correctly... then I know people whose smell horrible/look worse because they again dont have any idea how to keep a clean sanitary house.

4. Lastly, the OP asked if anyone has experience with these and could offer advice... it is unnecessary to be rude.

And we gave opinions. They dont work, in my OPINION, because, PERSONALY I think they are discusting. If you dont want to take a puppy out a 100 times a day dont get a puppy. Or dont get one untill you are in a place were you can just let them out in the yard. Im my PERSONAL OPINION they are usually used by lazy people.

That, however, doesn't mean it doesn't work..it just means it wouldn't work in your own home;) I'm sure they'd work fine for someone who wanted to train their dog that way. I do know elderly dog owners who can't get around well who use potty pads, etc with great success. Provided it is kept clean, I don't see an issue with it. Humans in general do way more disgusting things than a dog peeing on a pad:p

I always love the idea that LAZY people use them.

When by and far the people who use them, use them because their lives are too busy.

Its nice to be able to stay home all day, but not everyone can do that... some people have to work, take care of things outside the home... they are ALLOWED to have dogs too.

USUALLY, sheesh. Usually means not allways.

They way I read what you just posted, sounds like if you dont have time to even take your dog out to pee, thats OK. Im not saying thats what you ment, but thats how it came off. IF someone doesnt even have time to take thier dog out, then IMHO you dont have time for a dog in your life.

Luckily your opinion about whether or not I should have a dog has no bearing on whether or not I can actually have a dog.

I repeat: Not everyone can sit home all day, lots of those people have dogs and they are treated very good, better then some peoples who sit home all day.

My dogs are very well taken care of... they get good food, lots of attention, and medical care when it is needed.... but thanks for the feigned concern.

I know you said usually, but that rubbed me wrong as well....

I rescued Molly as a three year old, and she needs pee pads, they DO NOT make my house stink and I am far from lazy...

She flat out refuses to go outside when the weather hits 20 below no matter how good a coat I put on her, she will not move but stand in one spot and shiver lifting alternate feet until I pick her up. She is a 3 lbs soaking wet and is thin, not for lack of trying, but that is another story.

In the summer she will go out, but not in winter.

The other reason we use pads is because she is a problem eater, when I leave for work I put her kibble down and leave her loose, so she can pick at it all day while the other dogs are crated, she often can't make it until I get home and will use the pad, it has been the best way we have found to get her to eat more.

I think like someone said, with teeny dogs it's not much different than a litter box when looked after properly.

As for the potty patch, not sure I'd like that, I could not get the video to load, so did not watch it, however I like that the pads are easy to deal with, not sure how you'd manage the patch.

yes, I dont see how people find them so much different... I actually find litter boxes very gross (and I have them! ;) ) but have no issue with the wee wee pads.

Mine are no longer free fed (wish they could be) but with Chloe's issues there is no possible way I could withhold water from her and I am imagining her bladder is about the size of a pebble (ok slight dramatization :p ) She would surely pee all over my house unless I came home every 30 minutes or so.... I just dont find not being able to go outside every 30 minutes, lazy but I am SURE others here would take their dog out every 30 minutes, so obviously I am mistaken.

I think you put a pad or newspaper underneath the grass, so you then have to change the pad anyway and ALSO sanitize the grass... I just dont know how hard that would be... and you would STILL be paying for pads, so your just spending more in the long run... I know the appeal with some people who use it, is that it is easier to "dual train"... I always just took them out and let them go on the paper and praised in both places... this worked for me but I do know lots of dogs are confused by this and end up either not going on the pad or not going outside.

I also find my litterbox worse than the pee pads, but neither make me a lazy pet owner with a stinky house... LOL

I know Jenn may not have meant that, but thats how that post felt....

But hey, I am on day one of quitting smoking..... I may be a tad sensitive :rofl1:

Wow, PM I must be more tired than I thought, I wasnt aware I told you, that you shouldnt have a dog. Try to keep in mind, I dont know you, I dont know your situation, all my opinions were based on what MOST people are like. MOST people are not great dog owners like most people on this site.

If you are going to make sacrastic remarks about me being at home please take it to PM.
