If so what was your response? And if someone would, what would you say? I don't have any breeds that someone will ask to fight. And what I mean by fight as in dogfighting with there dog or in a dog fight in general.

I have, however, had a couple acquaintances ask me to let Dakota offlead to see "what he'll do" if they fool around with me. Morons.

I have never been asked...however...when Jez was a pup (she is my boxer) she was stolen by neighbors who we later found out fought pits and used harmless dogs as their adversaries. Luckily my boyfriend at the time saw them coming to our back gate and as they snatched her and started running to the car he chased them and since he is a running back semi-pro he caught them as they were trying to drive away opened the door and grabbed her and then they just drove off as I came running out of the house screaming and crying. I was so scared of what might have happened to her that I am so careful now. I can't believe the idiots we have in this world. He's lucky and they are lucky no one got hurt. If I would have owned a gun no telling!!! I was ticked!!! And she is the sweetest dog in the world, so she would have been killed had she been put in that situation. Poor little pups out there.

No that has never happened to me, but I too worry about one of my dogs being stolen to be used as bait dogs, being jrts..........
But if someone did ask, I hope I would have enough control to *act* interested, get a plate number or phone number, name etc then hand over that info to ALL the proper authorties And bust their sorry asses. That would make my day/year etc.

A couple HS kids asked if they could fight their rotten Golden against Una. I said, "I don't think that's wise. He hasn't eaten yet today and I'm not buying you another dog." They didn't say anything and left. Harsh and stupid?.....probably, but it worked.

Yes I have. Conversation went like this:

Him: "That a pit?"
Me: "No. She is an American Pit Bull Terrier. However, she's dug a few pits in the backyard."
Him: "You fight her?"
Me: "Excuse me? What do you think?"
Him: "You want to? My buddy.....blah blah blah."
Me: "You ever spent a night in jail?"
Him: "Huh?"
Me: "You want to?"

He then drove off. I get a lot of comments from passer-bys if I am walking the dogs on the main road by my house, but I get more comments on my OEB being a "huge pit bull" or "nice pit" while my true APBTs get comments such as "she's/he's small.....what's she/he mixed with?"

As for "bait" dogs, thank the HSUS for that one. "Bait" animals didn't exist until the HSUS said they did. They basically came up with quite a creative piece of fiction and published it as a "How To Fight Your Overweight Mutt You Call a Pit Bull" for all the street thugs to read. Thus these street thugs became street fighters overnight all because they now how instructions on how to do things.

Basically the HSUS spewed filth such as the bait dog/cat theory, the idea that dogment fed their dogs gunpowder/TNT/broken glass to "make them mean", that they starved them the day before a fight to "make them hungry for another dog" (I had no idea canines resorted to canibalism after a one-day fast  ), & other crap like that. None of the true dogmen that created the APBT employed any of those stupid and foolish practices, but since the HSUS said the did, they ignorant street thugs took them at their word & thus the practices became real.

The Humane Society of the United States. PETA's little friend who loves to take tax dollars to fatten their own pocketbooks and look the other way when their self-advertised services are truly needed (i.e. the blizzard in Colorado last winter that killed numerous heads of cattle).

They are also being sued by the state of Louisiana for the crap they pulled after Hurricane Katrina. They pulled numerous "pit bull" type dogs and claimed to be escorting them here & there & lo-and-behold the dogs just up and disappeared. And many of those were beloved family pets. But that wasn't all. Funds delivered to the HSUS to be used at the safe haven for the rescued animals were never received by those safe havens. But I bet some HSUS employees got nice raises.

I've never been asked but then again I don't really have any 'fighting' breeds..but if anyone ever did as I'd probably go off..o.o
The kind of people that would ask something like that wouldn't care anyways. They gotta prove they're "hard" by dragging along a dog with a fighting reputation.

i swear though, the neighbours must think we have a fighting ring in our backyard the amount of noise hary, mac and buz make when they play together:rolleyes:

i don't have a fighting breed though, so i don't really have to worry about that, but wow. i can't believe anyone would be that open about such an atrocious practice

Screw the choice words, there would be a huge fight right then and there....Me and the person asking. I don't have any "fighting" breeds either, so I don't think it'll ever happen....

I was at a party at my neighbor's house and some people saw Charlie in my backyard and my neighbor was telling them how protective he is of my yard. So this IDIOT guy asked me if he could go pretend to break into my house to see what Charlie would do. I just told him I would prefer NOT to see him have his leg torn off.

I have Dobermans - I get the question about once a year - always by teenagers, and ALWAYS when I'm visiting my parents. They live in a beautiful house that, unfortunately, is on the borderline between a family neighborhood and the ghetto.

When Ilsa was a puppy, I always walked her with a can of pepper spray, I was so afraid someone would try to steal her. Luyckily she grew fast, and any fears I had of theft quickly dissipated.

There was an old guy in the area that once told me (from his van, driving reeealll slow down the street) that he'd fought pits back when he was younger, and that he had always been told that pits were good game dogs, but to stay away from someone with a Doberman - because they would rather bite YOU than another dog, and nothing short of a miracle would save you from an angry Doberman.

I think that old guy was a bit of a mentor to the younger fighting crowd in the area though, because all of 'em steered clear of me and my dogs! It's only the young kids that think it's cool to mess with the Dobes.
