WE MADE IT A DAY WITHOUT POOING IN THE CRATE!! lol

I switched crates on her, as she seemed more anxious in the wire crate... she's much less resistant to walking into the airline-style one. And we've started our new schedule. I really, really hope this works !

Yay! That seems like cause for a celebration!

I just wanted to also say that yes, I have hated Root. I hated him this morning in fact, when he pooped ALL OVER my kitchen floor. He never poops in just one spot, nope can't do that. Instead he does circles and gets it everywhere. This was at about 3 in the morning, mind you. It's extremely frustrating.

I feel your pain.

I txted PlottDaddy this morning:

"YAY NO POO!!!!!!"

he answered:

"I hate and love that this is a high point of our lives."

I had to sit down and laugh.

Oh that is certainly a Hound thing. A Redbone at the pound I used to work at liked to do that, too.

And nfortunetly, you're NOT the only one. Honestly, I have hated Kenai at times. Ever since he was 6 weeks old. First day home he peed all over my bed. He loves to tear up everything in my garbage can and scatter it all over my room, he loves to jump on me and cover me in mud, he loves to make me think I am going to get close enough to grab his collar, and then take off. And he also loves to get on the counter and table and eat whatever food smells appealing to him - which is EVERYTHING.

Sounds like some of the exchanges my husband and I have when referring to the dogs and their antics.

When I first got Lola I did not have a crate. Not knowing how she would be around my cat I had her in the bedroom when I had to go out for a few hours. When I came home she shredded the carpeting behind the bedroom dor and had it pulled up in such a way I had to force the door open. I was pissed and I had thought seriously about calling her previous owner and telling her to come get her but instead of doing that I walked out of the room for a few minutes and thought about it.

I said to myself that when I adopted her it was a lifetime commitment and no matter what it took we would get through it. It took some time but I was able to work the SA out of her and now she can be left by herself all day if need be.

So I guess my answer is no I never hated my dog. For that matter I don't hate any dog, its sometimes their owners I could hate for them complaining about what their dog does but they do nothing to correct the dog or do not train the dog.

I hated Gonzo when he did that exact same thing. I was dog-sitting for my friend's Aussie who Gonzo has a love/hate relationship with. I was pissed because it just felt like he did it to spite me... I know it isn't like that, but that's how I felt when I woke up at 7 am to a horrible stench.

The crate is in my closet, so he not only covered his crate in ****; but also all around the crate, and in some of my shoes next to the crate! I had to drag the crate out of the closet to clean it, and in the process left poo trails in the carpet. I picked him up out of the crate, stuck him in the bathtub, told him to stay and turned to shower on while I cleaned up the carpet. Lucky for him, he stayed in the tub! I then went to the store and rented a carpet cleaner.

Pooing inside grosses me out sooooo much. It makes me physically ill. And Gonzo has a sensitive stomach, and he's super emotional, so it is something that I have to deal with at the most inconvenient times. :( Once the smell and stains are gone, I'm over it. But until then I just keep him away from me so he doesn't pick up on it.

You could try adding some pumpkin to her food. It will keep things moving, and firm up her poops. You might also switch her food.

poos are firm... no problems there. i think a lot of it was anxiety, as she seems to like her enclosed crate a lot more than the wire one i had her in... here's hoping.

I'll echo CP and say if this just started, then she might be having a health issue. If she's on that med and it doesn't stop after a few days once she's finished, I'd go back to the vet. 6 year old dogs who have been on the same routine for some time don't start messing in their crates just for spite, there is something else wrong.

we made it another day, and another day without her balking going into her crate... i'm starting to see more and more of a correlation between her anxious pooing and barking in her crate, and the wire vs. airline style.

i'd agree with a vet check if she'd ever had much of a schedule before - we're very "college lifestyle" over here ;) , and up until i started this job, it wasn't a big deal because i was never gone for very long at a stretch - up until recently, she hasn't even had to be crated overnight.

Anxiety can certainly cause it.

As well as adjusting to a new schedule. Both of you. She needs to learn what the new routine will be and you might need to alter the routine somewhat until finding what works best.

Glad to hear there's improvement!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I can't say I've hated Murphy or Mu but when I was living with my sister and her dog was essentially our dog....omg I wanted to kill her sometimes. She was a chewing, counter surfing, non -top barking evil brat. When she wasn't being cute and cuddly of course. The worst thing was what we dubbed the "alligator death roll". It always consisted of us being outside, her refusing to come inside (or anywhere near you), dancing just out of reach and when you finally caught her she would start rolling over in her collar so you had to literally drag her where ever you were going. I'm angry just thinking about it....lol. But I'm glad Liz is getting better! Hopefully it continues. :)

I don't think I've ever hated any dog I've had... even when they tried to take my thumb off one time.
