I am looking for a comfortable harness that would be appropriated for use on a tie out. I do not have a fenced in yard, and Skyler has a 50ft tie out that I put him on for outside time and potty breaks.

what makes a harness tie out friendly or not?

the harness also has to be very comfy because i also want to use it to go jogging and hiking with my dog. sometimes we are out most of the day...

IMO, harnesses are never tie-friendly. It is too easy for a dog to back out of one like we would slip out of a sweater. I'd rather use a properly-fitted wide collar like Stillwater Kennel Supply makes. No plastic hardware, either.

skyler cant wear a collar (not with anything attached to it) because of Horner's Syndrome.

i do agree with you tho! skyler is very mellow and will not try to slip out of it. he usually pees, and lays in the sun. its right by the door with lots of windows so he is very easy to keep an eye on

Make sure if you order Stillwater, you verify the exact size of whatever you purchase. I ordered a 15"-22" collar from them in early September, and the SMALLEST hole was at 19".... how that's a 15" collar I don't know. I asked for a replacement, they said they'd send it. Never sent it. Several emails later and I still have no replacement collar. Not happy with Stillwater at the moment... ugh.

I used Premier's SurFit harness for Mick (walks and tie out). He developed laryngeal paralysis, and couldn't have any pressure on his throat.

Of course, now the plot thickens - Stillwater says they shipped the old one weeks ago (which is odd because the last email was in OCTOBER), and want me to pay the shipping back on the one that they sent me that was the wrong size. Once he gets the collar back, he'll refund my money Methinks I'm not paying shipping back.

Weird because my dogs both have 15" necks and their collars fit perfectly.... always prompt shipping too.

I also have a leather walking harness from Stillwater that i use for agitation. Its a very nice harness and was cheap!

I even have pictures of it, with a tape measure.

Now he wants me to mail the collar back and when he gets it, he'll refund the collar and my shipping. Based on his track record so far, I'm not comfortable doing that. I'd probably not see the refund for another three months.

See? Smallest hole at 19". It's a Bronson collar. From the website: "The particular collar is sized to fit a neck size from 15" to 22"."

Apparently 19" is the new 15". ;)
