my boxer dog is extrmemely hard to take for a walk and barks at every single person that he sees. he also jumps at everrything around him , like walls and trees. is there anything i can do to talk him down? i was considering buyin him a choker chain but i do not want to have him in much pain!

a choke chain is probably not going to help.

have you taken him to obedience class?

At petsmart they sell harnesses that supposedly stop the pulling and jumping. They are much more humane than a choke collar and could help until you can get professional training :)

Those harnesses work in the sense that, as the leash is clipped on the front, the dogs turn if they pull, which they don't like, lol.

It's not a regular harness. It's one designed especially for dogs who jump and pull.

This is the harness that cowgurl is talking about. It's the halti harness with the leash attachment in the front. I've had lots of my clients with boxers have great success with it as far as control goes. It does not train your dog not to pull but will help with control....I too recommend classes as soon as you can afford them.

Boxers are very energetic dogs. Why don't you search the training forum for teaching a dog to walk nicely? There are tons of threads. And you must post pictures, I love Boxers!
