I think the diet looks fine. It's cold, and dry, and that has an effect on the dogs just like it does people. Gunnar is itchy right now, but no dandruff and no shedding. I think it's just the dry air in the house.

Saje, we tried making her veggie mixes and those don't really go over to well with her. We mix it with ground meats and sometimes she'll refuse the whole thing .

We are going to look into adding some salmon oil and have found a few products that we are looking into ordering.

Ihartgonzo, she does eat duck actually. A hunting friend of ours gave us a lot of duck breast meat that I have chopped up and give to her as muscle meats. He gave us duck, goose, and some pheasant. He also gave us dove too but I think Hannah thinks that's a little boney and won't really eat it. She gets rabbits too. Not whole rabbits though they don't have the insides or the fur on them. She has had the whole rabbits with insides but no fur but she wasn't really too sure what to do with it. The rabbits I pick up from the store with no insides or fur she's sort of confused about as well we have to hold them while she eats.

actually, rabbit is the least fatty meat there is out there - rabbits are reknowned for having virtually NO fat. i feed whole entire rabbits (with fur) and theres little to no fat in them.
ohhhh... they always seem really meaty & fatty to me. I guess it's just lots of muscle meat.

I remembered Hannah couldn't have pork, which is ultra fatty, so I was trying to remember meats that seemed to have lots of fat. Let us know how the salmon oil works out!

Is an all meat diet really balanced for a dog? I would think that they need some veggies and a small amount of carbs also.

As long as you are feeding a variety of raw meaty bones, muscle meats, organs, occasional fish, and supplement with things like eggs and yogurt, there is no need for veggies or carbs. Feeding raw is much more than throwing your dog a couple chicken legs. If you do it that way, you will have problems.

Does she sit in front of your heating vents? My cat is on an all canned food diet due to urinary problems. When I first got him he had a horrible, horrible coat. All flaky and shedding alot. He did really well up until winter. Now his coat is flaky, but not as bad as it was. I'm assuming it's because he sits on the heating vents. Which he does.

I'm jumping here too. With all the snow and ice, we've been getting in the Northeast U.S., my dogs coats are getting dirty. I used a Nature's Miracle pet wipe last night and their coats were soft again.
