Ok, Hannah has been doing GREAT outside of her crate when we leave the house so yesterday she was left home alone for 5 hours uncrated. I was not nervous at all about her destroying anything because she had plenty of toys out and she never chewed on anything but her toys. Well we get home and she was at the door anxious to go out so I let her out. I made my way into the livingroom and trip over a shoe. I turned the light on only to find Mark's FAVORITE $150 pair of Harley Davidson leather motorcycle boots chewed to bits. Mark was not inside yet he was still unloading the car so I tried desperately to get the remains picked up before he got inside. I was too late he came inside and saw me bringing the dustpan to the garbage and asked what I was doing I just said "oh Hannah got into something" and threw the pieces away. He walked into the living room and came back in and said "did you know Hannah ate your boots?" So I run out there and sure enough one of my favorite pairs of boots were chewed up. He started helping me clean up and went to throw my boots in the garbage and that is when he uncovered his motorcycle boots chewed up in the trash. Oh boy was he mad but atleast she ate my favorite boots too so he couldn't be all too mad at her. So now we know all shoes and boots must be put deep in the closet before we leave from now on.

I had a dog when I was a kid who did that - he chewed the heels of my mom's shoes... oh! she was so mad!!! I feel fortunate mojo has no interest in chewing anything but his bones...

Oh, I feel for you!

Zeus was a shoe fiend in his younger days. He's eaten a brand-new pair of the hubby's work boots ($150!), a pair of my expensive work dress shoes, a pair of hubby's old sneakers, and four pairs of sandals. Needless to say, all shoes are now kept in the closet.

Since he's grown up, Zeus doesn't seem to have any interest in shoes any more. But we're certainly not going to put that to the test.

I hope she does grow out of it because we can be forgetful sometimes. I have been trying hard not to leave shoes out though. I think she might have gotten the shoes mistaken for her kong. She has decided that she likes the kong toy now and the kong is black and so was the motorcycle boots and my boots so maybe she just got confused (or atleast that is what I am telling Mark).

We have the same problem. All of our dogs like to take shoes, slippers, etc. and chew on them. If they get one, I only have myself to blame for not putting them out of reach. Sorry your boots are gone.

Not shoes in this house... Socks, he will find socks even after we think we've put them all up. He'll even find socks at my parent's house. (occassionally He'll grab some underware, but not as often as socks)

At least he is an equal opportunity chewer: he got both of you. :)

Brutus demolished two pairs of sandals when he was a few months old, but it was my fault, I left them by the back door.
