I don't know if I mentioned it here, but for the next 3 weeks we are taking care of my friend Lia's two cats. It's a crazy amount of time to kitty-sit, especially bringing the cats into our own home (when I kitty-sit for people I usually go to their houses), but hey, I wasn't the one that said 'yes.' ;) So far it has been nothing but a nightmare, just as I predicted. Her hopeful-fiance had to back out at the last minute, so on Thursday she asked us if we could pet-sit for her.

We cleaned out the "dog-room" (oh, the irony..) for them. There was barely room in there to stand, and now it's all clear and cat-proofed. Hell, I would go so far as to say kitten proofed. Somehow we managed all of this in less than 3 hours. It's not a very large room.. but still, that's a lot of crap!

My miniature nightmare started with the cleaning. I've been pretty ill this whole week--I slept most of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday due to overdoing it on the weekend. Wednesday I partly slept away as well. *sigh* I was very sick last night, and it was pretty hard for me to clean the room out, even with help. Bleagh. Vertigo + bending down + carrying things = not fun.

But it gets worse. Lia didn't let Tizbury out to go pee, and he was in her car in a crate all day. So he wet himself, poor guy. He doesn't have the greatest bladder control. And for the icing on the cake.. not only was it a LOT of pee and he got himself coated in it, but Winslow was also in the crate with him; so of course Winslow got peed on.

*facepalm*

SO... With my mom's help, I had to give two strange cats--one who didn't like me too much in the first place--baths. Tiz was much more well-mannered than our kitties, however, so his bath was not as stressful as they usually are. Winslow has never been bathed (you're all  right now, huh?) before, but shockingly it turned out okay. We bathed him in the sink, with the little water-squirty-things. It worked out well. He's a semi-longhair, so drying him was oh so fun. But he did get dry, and found out he liked me a lot in the process, and he liked being brushed, too.

Tiz I didn't groom--his hair's short. He'll need it tomorrow, though. I just don't have the energy right now. His face also needs to be cleaned, as it reeks of urine. Not to mention the crate-cleaning and floor-cleaning w/ Nature's Miracle, because we didn't know how peed-on he was until he hopped out.

On top of all this I am also taking care of my neighbors' Cairn, Sabrina. Only for a week, though, thank goodness. Bree will be allowed in the house with MY kitties if she stays clean and wants to come in. I'll probably be bathing her every other day. Bleh. But at least she has very good bath manners and doesn't shed. :) (She's an indoor/outdoor dog allowed to roam free.)

I'm kinda twitching right now. Five cats, one dog. I have this horrible feeling this isn't the end of it. If anyone asks me to take care of their pets, remind me to say "NO!!!"

Oh, and here's Brina. :)

I promise I'll have pictures of Tiz and Winslow, at the very least by Monday. Tizbury is a four year old brown mackerel tabby with green eyes, black feet & skin. He's grossly overweight and has a small structure to begin with, so he looks odd. Winslow is about (?) a year old, he's a grey mackerel tabby with white. He has spectacular markings, really. His fur has the oddest quality, too. He's semi-longhair, but not like a maine coon or your average longhair. You'll see, I'll have plenty of pics. :)

Awww what a cute face. You do have your hands full. I gave my cats a bath last year after they got fleas :( because they were sooo itchy. What a pain. Luckily I had a good shampoo that rinsed VERY easily so it was a quick process. Painful though, for me lol How long are you sitting for?

Cat-sitting: till July 9th. Dog-sitting: till June 23rd.

The good thing about bathing is that mine get bathed often enough I know how to handle one and how to keep them calmer in the tub/sink. I'd sure love to know that shampoo! We have kind of a crap brand at the moment. I want something by earthbath, as it's so highly recommended here.

Hehe.. at least I'm not dog-sitting her three puppies, though. The unlucky people who get to do that are her co-workers. Oh, the 5am wake up calls, punctured shins, high-pitched yapping, and the pooing/peeing everywhere.

Long time for the cats! I hope they settle in nicely.

Shampoo... I have to look it up. do di do dial up is slow... la la la la ... oh right. Nature's specialities. I can't remember which one. Basically I just diluted the shampoo a lot in another bottle and wet them down with the diluted shampoo. I rubbed it in while they were on the floor and then dunked them under running water in the tub and they came clean in about a second. good stuff! made them silky. Mine are short hair though

Oh yes, it was just one big ball of fun TM. ROFLMAO!!!!!!

Anyhow... they are settling in quite well. :) Tizbury is so loving. :D I get more head butts from him in 10 minutes than I do in a couple days from mine. Winslow's taking a while to warm up to me, but that's fine. Heck, I gave the poor guy a BATH. What else should I expect? If he was a human he'd probably never speak to me again.

So.. we had a good morning. They are *SO* messy with their litter, it was all over the room in the morning. I thought mine were messy, but I guess they're neat. The floor was practically coated in litter. So I swept it up, vacuumed it with our shop vac (I love that thing), and cleaned the litter boxes. They hadn't eaten any of their wet "food" for which I'm glad. Dumping that crap where it belonged, in the bag of litter and poop, felt good. Winslow wasn't very afraid of the shop vac.. he came right up to it and let me vacuum his tail--all he did was give me a weird look. :)

I have pics that are being resized/uploaded now.. and I'll post 'em in the kitty forum.
