Lucy, one of my goldens, has always been weird with her hair. It is always so soft and fluffy, then in the summer it gets really really thin. She goes through this one to two times a year. Honestly, it's so thin that it is discusting. Not only is it thin this time, but below her ears about 3 inches [neck area],on both sides, there is a big area of missing hair. I see that hair is starting to grow in though. It isn't red... like she's been licking it. Is there anything I can do? Maybe give her fish oil capsules? I did tonight.

She isn't in heat, her food hasn't been changed, she's in the same environment, and she isn't stressed. I haven't been outside with them the last 3 days because I've been sick... my dad has been taking care of them. I went out this evening, and they had about 4 inches of water their one of their buckets, and the other was knocked over [Lily likes to sick her front legs in it to cool off, and sometimes knocks it over]. So I cleaned out their water buckets, and they now have 10 gallons of fresh water, I sprayed the front of the dog pen [it is huge], and then let the dogs go swimming to cool off. So they should be better.

I think the cause of this is heat. It's been wet all summer, infact we had 20+ consecutive days of rain. It is finally starting to become summer... the temps bounced up to the upper 90's... the dogs didn't have much time to adjust. All the dogs coats seem fine, except for Lucy's. I expected it to be thinned out, but I'm worried about the 2 spots. I know they're starting to heal because there is fur growning in normal[thick].

Anyways, I'm looking for any other tips on what I can do. Should I give her the fish oils... how many for a 60lbs dog??
