I posted a while back that we had taken in a cat that was dumped at a friend's barn. Well, apparently there were 3 cats dumped--the one we have, a gray one that escaped me when we were getting the cat carrier, and a third cat--a good looking cat too--long haired tannish with brown points and tabby stripes. The cat was very thin, and was obviously starving, so we caught her thinking we would take her to the vet, get her cleared, and bring her home to keep with the other foster kitty, Tempi.
Sadly, when we took her to the vet we found that she had feline leukemia. since it's untreatable and so contagious the vet recommended euthanasia, which we agreed to. I felt so bad for her--she was a nice little cat and would have made someone a good companion.
I'm also a little scared too. Tempi tested negative for feLV, but the vet said that the incubation period for the disease can be long, so I'm a little concerned that she might have it (since we believe the cats lived together at one point). To top it off although she's gaining weight nicely she's been drinking and peeing a LOT, so we are taking her to the vet this week to check for diabetes...
