Glad all is well, such a scary experience.
I still went to bed right after.....working 14 hour days and getting 4-6 hours sleep it wasn't too difficult
And before anyone asks...separating fighting terriers, the choking is about the quickest, humanest way we've found to work effectively. As some of you know, I'm a big guy, and I cannot pull these dogs apart, nor would I, it creates a lot more damage. (Instead of holes, you now have tearing to deal with.)
Basically you grasp the neck hard enough to get them to gasp for ai, when they do they have to open their mouths. Be aware though, if you let go right away, they will often bite/grab again, so it is necessary to start putting distance between them.
If you are by yourself, or are a small person, another trick is to have water in the bathtub and stick them in it, again, the idea isn't to drown them, merely get them to gasp for air long enough to get them separated. I know of a single (as in lives alone) JRT person in the states that keeps water in the tub at all times for this reason alone.
We've been fortunate that most of the fights here over time both of us have been around, and my hands are large enough I can handle both dogs at once, which lets Kerri deal with any others trying to get in on it (and they do!!) There are certain combinations that we know won't get along, unfortunately once in a while something will happen that lets these things happen.
