ok, here is the puppy we recently adopted:

any thoughts on what might be in the mix? So far the guesses have included lab, some kind of hound, GSD (his coloring) and shar pei (he's pretty wrinkly).

here's his mama. She was pregnant when the rescue pulled her from a kill shelter. they thought she might be some kind of corgi mix. She also has loose wrinkly skin, although you can't really tell in the pictures.

any ideas what our little guy might be, aside from cute?

I immediately though Shar pei/Lab mix. Maybe some GSD. His mother DOES look very GSD/Corgish

Lab/boxer maybe? She looks like my Jenny (RIP) at that age and her mom was a purebred rottweiler and her dad was a lab. She's adorable!

His mom looks so much like a GSD/Corgi mix and I could see Lab/Shar pei in him with some GSD in the coat

I kinda really like both him and his mother, very unique looking dogs

I'm thinking the pup might just have a little of everything in there.

My vote is shar pei/lab/corgi mix too.

Mom has some definate Corgi in her but what else I haven't a clue but that is one blocky head and holy neck rolls!

Yeah, that second pic of Mom sure has me scratching my head. I definitely see Corgi there. I'm really wondering if she has some Basset Hound in her, too. That sure would explain the neck rolls.

My best friends have dogs that are shar pei, beagle, pug, and pit mix and they look like this (these two are siblings if you can believe it):

I see a few similarities although yours is cuter I think!

Lab, Shar pei and possibly Corgi/Basset type. Definitely Shar pei in both mama and pup.

wow, I'm surprised so many people think shar pei! I think so too but I thought it was just me. I definitely see a lot of lab in him as he gets older. He lives to carry stuff around in his mouth. He is an absolute sweetie. I agree his mom is adorable - she's a sweetheart too. She is staying permanently with the family that fostered her and the pups.

It's funny to think he may be lab/shar pei, since our other dog is (we think) a Chow/Golden retriever. How did I end up with two totally different versions of Big Amiable Retriever x Aloof Chinese Dog?

I'd wager there was a GSD in the mix somewhere. But I think there's so much mix in there he's a breed unto himself, lol!

He's a true mix of mixes or at least that's my guess.

On a side note, I LOVE his mama. She looks like a corgi shaped version of Upendi. :rofl1:

Momma looks like she is at least part Sharpei, and so does your pupper.

I see basset hound in Mom and your pup--something about your pups snout and blocky head, with the wrinkles reminds me of Wilson. And Mom I see Basset/GSD rather than corgi--she is too blocky and wrinkly! Very cute though!
