Anyone ever grown blueberries? Last year I successfully grew tomatoes but I don't like tomatoes so they went to the squirrels. This year I bought something I actually like to grow so I got blueberries.

Any tips? Stories?

It's been a few years but there were a couple blueberry bushes here when we bought the house. As far as I know, they like clay soil with a fairly high acid level.

One thing I can't stress enough is to get some bird netting for them. Those flippin' birds wake up for breakfast at the crack of dawn, much earlier than when I was thinking of blueberry picking! They gorge themselves silly, then when they take off they will deliberately fly over your car and leave plenty of evidence that that was their flightpath. Also your house siding and windows.

Oh, found you a page: http://www.gardenersnet.com/fruit/blueberry.htm

Ooo yummy! My mom used to have a strawberry patch which took over part of the backyard. I would always eat the strawberrys before she had a chance to pick them. Yummy :D

Yah I was thinking of Blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries but blueberries seemed the easiest since they grow in bushes and not on vines so I went with them.
