Dakota was an absolute turd this morning!!

I took him out with me for a run in the desert and we came across a huge dead hare. I just told Dakota to leave it and kept on running, thinking he would listen to me like he always does. As I was running, I felt fur brushing up against me so I looked down at Dakota.... Yup, he had the hare in his mouth. Yup, he was running so that the rancid, rotting corpse was slapping my leg. Yuck. I told him to drop it, and he did - right on my shoe. When I kicked it off, it oozed a TON of this nasty dead-rabbit goo stuff on my nice white Nikes. It reeked. Ew! I went to grab his collar to pull him away from it when I realized that the rotten goo was on his fur, and by then, on my hand. OMG EW!!! That was one of the nastiest things I've smelled, ever.

Six baths later: the smell of it is gone, my once-nice Nikes are in the garbage can because they are beyond saving, and my morbid dog is has been completely scoured and sprayed with doggie cologne. Just thinking about it still makes me shudder. Ew.

Dogs are gross.

Saje.. Ew. Dead stuff on its own is foul, but after it's been partially digested? Bet that cleanup wasn't fun.

Ewww, that is gross, to have it touch you...yuck!

I had two dead bass lying in my yard for half a day. Brutus and Spike drug them from the pond into the yard. The smell was disgusting, and so were the flies. Oh, and you know they both had to roll in them...what a lovely aroma giving them a bath. Nobody ate them just drug them around.

My rottie/doberman mix used to love dead things. Didnt matter if it was a dead bird, rabbit, cat, or dog. She would try to eat it. She would pull me clear across the street to go after a dead animal.

I laughed out loud when I read this thread. I could visualize dakota trotting behind you with a decomposed nasty slimy fish slapping around...lol. I would have been so grossed out... ewwww. Just the thought of it is horrific.

YOU have awful images? Be glad you weren't covered in putrid, vile, rancid, greasy, sticky death-goo (bet the images just got better). I barely had time to run inside and drop him in the bathtub before I absolutely freaked out.

Just when I was starting to think that he was rather normalish for a Border Collie, too...

Yep the images just got a whole lot better, thanks for that :D.

I would have freaked out too, the worst thing Casey has done was roll in a dead rabbit, but not pick it up . And here I was thinking Dakota was a elegant gentleman :D.

He had me fooled, too! He's normally very well behaved and although he does have a fondness for drama, he hasn't ever done something that twisted to me before. I know I'm bad for thinking he did it on purpose, but he was SMIRKING as we sprinted home. Like he knew just how disgusted I would be by that.

I wonder if this had anything to do with me rearranging my bedroom on Friday and covering his favorite sleeping spot with a small throw rug. Or folding up his crate and putting it in the garage - that was last week but he glared at me for days.
