It's nice to be here. I registered a couple of weeks ago after browsing your forum and have finally found a chance to sit down and introduce myself.

My name is Colleen and I am a Clinical Canine Aromatherapist and Animal Massage practioner (I see people too-lol!). Basically, I just love animals. :D

I always wondered if dogs could make art would they would put it all in bottles. a gallery would be a sniffery. What does the aroma part do with dogs? There is so much more to dog massage than a lot of people realize. Am looking forward to your post and want to learn as much as I can from you. Glad your have come! Welcome

Very happy to have you here, Colleen! I'm sure you'll have some excellent recommendations for us, too. It stands to reason that dogs would be very receptive to aromatherapy - much more so than we are, and they have no preconceived notions to break through before alternative therapies can be effective.

Smkie, I just love that thought process! If you think about it like that, then marking trees, buildings, hydrants, etc., becomes canine grafitti! ;)

Thanks for the welcome. This is a great forum, everyone is so in love with their animals :D

Canine Aromatherapy is similar to real aromatherapy. One question I am usually asked is "How will candles help my itchy dog?" Well, they can't. ;) But therapuetic grade essential oils (not the grocery store kind) can do the trick. It isn't exactly the same as human aromatherapy, because dogs are very sensitive (the sniffery thing lol!) and because they are genetically different and cannot tolerate certain oils that we can.

Canine Aromatherapy is useful for all sorts of canine needs like calming, skin problems, hot spots, first aid, fleas & ticks, grooming even hypersexuality. Aromatherapy is NOT for cats or birds, but I have treated horses, goats and cows.

Here is my website if you want to get an idea of what I do Canine Therapies.com
