Hi,
I've subscribed to a few of these online forums and found them to be very helpful in answering my assorted questions.
In the last year I have adopted two sweet female dogs. Red Dog I've had for about 5 months, but have lived with her for a couple years. Her owners moved away and left her with me. She's a pound puppy ~5 years old. Friends think she is a Beagel x Irish setter mix. She loves to run, yelps like a Beagel when she'son a rabbit's trail, is Beagel size, but is a beautiful dark red color.
Just a couple weeks ago I adopted another dog who I've known for a couple years, dog-sat a few times, is best friends with my other dog, Red, and recently had her owners move away. She is a 2-3 year old Border Collie I guess. Gi Gi is amazingly loving (co-dependent?) dog who has never been worked with much.
Having these two dogs has made me get out and walk for at least a half hour in the morning and an hour at night. I wouldn't have said I had time to do that every day, but I've made the time and it is really good for both dogs and I. If we don't go out they drive me crazy!
Both dogs are really mild mannered and good around people and animals. But, since they are both new to me and have had very little work in their lives they both come with some bad habits so I have a long road ahead of me to get them trained. I hope to learn a lot from this forum to guide me.
My job is guiding llama packing trips in Southern Utah, so I am fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly beautiful country to get out and explore with the dogs. My friends have always said that I live in a place where it would be great to be a dog. I live on twenty acres next to a National Monument. Have besides the two dogs: 15 llamas, 3 cats, 15 chickens
Best wishes,
the Llamatrekker
