...are they bad for dogs?

I know several people who feed green beans with their meals to help their dogs fill full. I don't see a problem with it other than all the sodium they contain -- or does sodium not create the same problems in dogs as it does humans?

I know it's okay to feed sardines and mackerel but what about Tuna?

Thanks! :)

As you said the salt/sodium would be my main concern to feed them often. Sardines and Mackeral (any canned fish really) are HIGH in salt/sodium.

So to feed any of them too often I think would be BAD. But I give them once in a while myself. Every thing from tuna to Salmon (canned)

Green beans are fine, just a low calorie filler. If we are talking canned, I would try to use the salt free, other than that, there are no problems that I know of with them.

To get rid of the sodium, buy the frozen green beans, I would buy a bag and cook them and put them in the fridge afterwords and spread it out over a few days for my dog, sodum free since they are frozen...u could also rinse the canned green beans really well to try to get some of the sodium out

I have given them Tuna and green beans in the past and they LOVED it so I wanted to make sure before feeding it very often. I will probably only feed it 1-2 times a month (usually days I have class and or forgotten to take the food out).

I have been using the sodium free green beans when I buy canned. I think I'm going to see if I can find a large bag of frozen and pre-cook all of them so when I need some I can just grab a handful and let them thaw.
