Pretty sure Auggie has a UTI again. Won't know for sure until I can get a urine sample over and have it run. His pee is still clear, but he's peeing frequently, and just a bit ago he did that weird tail-wagging-when-I-start-peeing thing he did when he had his UTI last time.

dang it all. just nothing is going right right now. I have him entered in a trial in a few weeks and I'm seriously considering pulling him.

Awww, ((((vibes)))) for Auggiedoggie. I hope it's not a UTI and that he feels better soon!

ETA: Cranberry him up! If you can get cranberry pills and mix them in with his food, or get him to drink some juice, it can't hurt.

I used to put a scoop of Berry Balance on my Cane Corso's food when he would get a uti. every meal for a couple of days, then every other for a couple more days. I finally just went to once a week after everything was cleared up.
He never noticed that it was there, and it really seemed to help.

Well, now I don't know what to think. I tried to get him to go out and pee one last time before bed last night and he didn't have to. He only went out and peed the one time before breakfast this morning. I went home for lunch and he was outside for like twenty minutes before he finally decided to pee, so it wasn't urgent.

I was going to call and ask Doc to just write me a script for baytril given Auggie's history, but I don't want to put him on anything if he doesn't actually have a UTI and now his symptoms have gone away again. That doesn't technically rule anything out with Auggie though.

I'm thinking of getting us a Saturday morning appointment so I can sleep in late until the vet's office is open, collect his first pee of the day, and then drive it straight over there, or maybe even load him right into the car and wait to have him pee outside the vet's office so we can be sure it's fresh and accurate. Our chiropractor suspects some of the strange stuff we are seeing on his recent urinalysis may be due to me getting up, collecting the first pee, putting it in the fridge (which she said they are told to instruct patients to do but as soon as you put it in the fridge it starts changing the pH), and then driving it over a bit later in the day when the vet's office is open. And then, she pointed out, who knows how long it sits there before they actually run the sample...
buh. So maybe if I make us an appointment I can get it run right away. Though last time I went over there for something and had them run a sample, I was sitting and waiting for the results so Doc and I could talk about them, and it was over an hour of me sitting and waiting... so... sigh.

I'd start cranberry, just for funsies. (if he's not already on something)

I can't say how it is in other clinics, but at ours, we generally (about 99.9% of the time) run the sample right away. However, even though we (the techs) run it, we can't give the results..a doctor has to. So, they may be busy and unable to get to the owner of the dog right away to give results, but the sample results have been completed for some time.

Well, his symptoms completely went away and his pee was still clear so I let it go, thinking maybe it really was just that it was hot so he was drinking LOTS more. But he has done the wagging-tail-before-peeing thing twice today. Also peed when I came home from work, ate dinner, then went right back out and peed again.

So I made him an appointment for 9:30 on Saturday. Plan is to get up, drive over there, have him pee in front of the vet's office, then walk in the door and hand them the sample.

Payton is also going to get microchipped, and we're going to draw blood and check Auggie's T4 while I'm at it. $$$$$$. sigh. =/
anybody want to buy anything from my Etsy store... or have requests... LOL. ugh.

No, not yet. We were going to do that if the x-ray found no stones, but we found the stones so we did bladder surgery to send the stones away.
His pH level was going the opposite way (high, he was low last year) so we may be looking at a different situation now. The plan last urine recheck was to leave everything the way it was and do another recheck in a few months but he's showing me symptoms now and wasn't before... we were just rechecking because he didn't show me symptoms until he had six stones in his belly before.
So we'll just have to see what his pH is at this point. If it's high we're looking at the opposite problem as last time. He's on a high-ish protein food (32% min) but might need to go higher?? I don't know.

and maybe it's nothing. maybe he's just being stupid. I really have no idea what to think. I just tried to get him to go out again and he was like "nope, don't really need to." okay...

Well, it's nothing. I don't know if I'm relieved or pissed at him LOL. Urgh! So I guess he's just being weird. Or maybe he had a touch of something and the Tinkle Tonic he's on took care of it before we got to the vet? I dunno what to think about it. I can relax a bit now, at least for a while. ;P

Payton got chipped while we were there. I was distracting him with a cookie and then Doc put the needle in and Payton was like "!!!! WHAT THE *%&( ARE YOU DOING BACK THERE!" Poor guy. You should have seen his face. I laughed because I'm a mean mommy and also because the surprised expression was rather hilarious. =P
