Well.... here are some pics but they really don't show his greyhound qualities.

I don't know why it doesn't show up in pics.... but for one... he is such a dainty a delicate boy hehe and he has that arched area in the back and his nose is not AS pointy as a GH but it is quite long and pointy. and his gait really gives it away lol.

LOL he looks so chubby in pictures.... I don't get it. He really looks totally different in person hehe
That made me LOL! see.. THAT is what I think every time someone takes a piccie of me! I think "gawd.. i am not that chubby and it doesn't even look like me!" The camera does funky things sometimes but he is a cutie that is for sure!

On a side note- greyhound puppies look NOTHING like actual greyhounds.. it is really weird!

Agilitypup... CONGRATS, that is awesome! Nice looking dog.. what is his name?

Not yet :)

Maybe one day, though. They seem like such sweet dogs. Although i did meet two at the harbor one time and let me tell you, they were some NASTY dogs. I don't think i was ever as afraid of an animal as i was just then.

:yikes: what? are you serious? I have never heard such a thing! I mean sure.. don't ever try to break in my home or lay a finger on me to hurt me or you WILL see their wrath.. but the breed is not like that at all. That is crazy!

She was coming down a side street, and i was on the main road. She was about ten feet away from me, and as soon as i passed her, Both dogs started lunging and snarling like some kind of rabid psycho dogs. I think, i can't remember, but i'm pretty sure they both had muzzles on. I was just like EEEESH lady what the heck did you do to those dogs?

:yikes: That is incredibly ODD behavior. I have been around 100's of greyhounds and never seen a single one act that way.

i am sorry that you experienced that, but glad to hear it didn't ruin you to the breed!:D

Of course not :) I've known many incredibly sweet greyhounds as well. There is most definately a greyhound or two in my (distant) future.

Are they known for having eye problems? A while ago i knew a woman who let her antsy greyhound out one morning, and she proceeded to run into the doghouse. The woman took a flashlight and shined it in her eyes, and when her pupils didn't dialate, she rushed her to the vet. I don't remember exactly what it was, but a part of her eye swelled up overnight, making her completely blind. I think she got put on steroids??? and she regained her sight. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

my mom owns an Italian Whippet (Italian Greyhound/Whippet mix) and I lived with him for 4 years, does that count? The problem with sight hound dogs is you can't ever let them roam around off leash because the moment they see something dart, that's it, they're gone after it. Tippy is so street stupid, if he escapes out the front door, that's it, he's running as fast as he can up and down the street and all around the yard chasing things left and right. Out of control. I adore greyhounds though. I've always wanted one since they're so lazy when they're just relaxin around the house, I like that.

Hmmm.. doesn’t quite sound like pannus, but it might be. Pannus is usually slow to develop and greys are among the breeds that are more prone to that. It CAN lead to blindness over time and steroids are the treatment (won’t cure it, but will keep it under control).

Cattrah- Whippets are GREAT dogs. I too really hate the fact that sighthounds can't be off lead. It is a deal breaker for some folks, especially when you don't have a yard (like us...) but we manage to find some ball fields to "enter illegally' so they can stretch their legs.

There's a whippet puppy that lives in my apartment complex and we get a number of whippets and IG's in for boarding/daycare at work...oddly enough, very few greyhounds though. My work did try to foster for the local Grey rescue, but that didn't work for various reasons. I loved the two we did have for a short period of time though; total love sponges!

I dunno about a standard greyhound since I am kind of a small-dog gal, but I have fantasies about owning an Italian Greyhound as soon as I am able.

Italian greys are one of the few small dogs (other than just a good old mutt...) that I would consider owning. Pretty different personalities than full size greys, but still great dogs.

Yes Zoom.. they ARE love sponges aren't they... they eat up all that attention...lol.

darkchild.. if you get a chance sometime when you are on.. pm my a piccie of Scirrocco... I would love to see him!:D

Oh how strange! Can I ask if you had a dog with you at the time as some greys are just so unused to seeing non pointies that they can be a bit aggressive. Many greys in the UK are muzzled, indeed my 2 are if Im walking them on my own not because they are likely to bite anyone - far from it they are nervous around strangers - however if they see a cat or small dog then they may certainly have a go. I would say in certainly one of mines defence she was more than likely trained for the track using live bait (a very very unpleasant practise).

Mostly my girls are loving and lazy and goofy and the most beautiful creatures in the world IMO.

Must also say there are some lovely greys and lurcher piccies on here!
