Hi,
Just got a 7 week old brown lab pup.
My GF and I got him home, and he's perfect. In the 2 days we've had him we've got him so he loves his crate, and he responds most of the time to 'come'. He's only had 3 pee pee accidents inside, which doesn't seem so bad considering he's probably pee'd about 30 times since we've had him. Each time I was able to catch it in the act, give an ah-ah and pick him up to put him outside right away. One time he finished outside, and I rewarded.
When we take him for his pee pee breaks at night, he only cries for about 2-5 mins when we get him back in his crate, and then chews on his toys or goes to sleep. He's pretty good at only chewing on his toys too so far. When ever he chews anything he's not suppose to I say no bite and move him. I'm going to rig up a large playpen tonight for just him and his toys, so he can spend time in there playing.
One thing I've gotten paranoid about is Parvo. I know to keep him away from anywhere other dogs could be, so he's confined to my backyard for pee and play. I bought my place 2 years ago, and the previous owner had a couple dogs, but when I got the place I roto-tilled the whole yard and replanted. After reading, I don't think that would make a difference if Parvo was present, so I'm fairly paranoid about that. I know the previous dogs were mostly kept on the other side of the house, and the crazy previous owner had turned the whole backyard into a garden, so I'm thinking (hoping) the dogs weren't aloud in that area.
Anyways, great forum. I'm learning tons.
edit for a question: how often do I water? I usually do it with meals, and a couple times between each meal. Also, he likes to like the water off the grass/clovers (its usually wet) out back. This enough? He pee's at the very least every 2 hours, usually its more like every hour.
