This week I lost two of my ferrets Spike and Phil. One to old age and one to Adrenal.
Spike was my….unique boy. I got him when he was a baby and picked him out because he bit and jumped out of his cage at me. I tend to like the wackos. The first night home he managed to get himself locked in the freezer and earned himself the name Spike because of his tail being poofed out forever. Little did we know as Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans that he would have much more in common with the vampire Spike than with a poofed out tail.
He was a biter and out for blood from the start and he didn't quite know how to play with the other ferret, he was just off. But he was my special boy and kinda sweet in his one unique way. He had the softest coat out of all of mine and always kept me on my toes when he wasn't biting them
Phil came to me late in his life but kept on going. He lived to be ancient and while I'm not 100% sure of his age I know he got into the double digits. He spent the majority of his life here sleeping away the days in the most comfortable place he could find. One of the others would always find time to go cuddle with him. He still loved to get a few dooks out and a quick war dance when let out before he found his nesting place for the day.
He was also a kisser. Never had a ferret do that before him and it won me over in an instant.
I'm very thankful I had both you two in my life. Sleep tight.
