Wow thank you guys so much for all of the advice. I didn't even realize some of the symptoms you guys are mentioning were results of gluten and they are symptoms I actually have. I have quite a few stomach issues and what I believe is a lactose intolerance (gives me stomach aches and occasionally really bad gas in my chest/what seems like heart burn or something).

I also read something online linking gluten and missed menstral cycles? Anyone?

I am beginning to think more and more that I should be eating gluten free. Which depresses me a bit because I freaking love so many things with gluten. I found out yesterday that miso soup has gluten. And soy sauce. Every Saturday my sister and I go to this sushi place and the lady gives us free miso soup to go with our sushi (which we dip in soy sauce). How am I supposed to tell this sweet Asian woman "no thanks, we can't take any more of your free soup."?? It just sucks!!

I am encouraged though by a lot of the products you guys have posted. I would love to try all of it!! I love a lot of things that are gluten free. I just...really want a Krispy Creme every now and then. :(

((((hugs))))

It really screwed up my cycles. The doctors at one point were tossing around the idea of just giving me a hysterectomy, and told me repeatedly I'd never have children (I have two now, both unplanned and used protection).

Part of the reason there are so many different symptoms is it basically makes you malnourished. Your guts are damaged, and you can't absorb the things you eat properly. Some people's bodies drop a lot of weight. Some people's bodies hang on to every calorie they can scrounge up. It really depends on the individual what exactly the symptoms are.

You can totally have soy sauce though! Just get gluten free brands. There are plenty, and a lot of them are normal brands vs. specialty GF ones.

San-J is my favorite. Plus it's organic, so no GMOs.

I've noticed a lot of the high end Japanese brands tend to be GF, which is why it's easier to find GF sushi at nice sushi places when you're asking around.

Im NOT celiac thankfully, but Iv had a couple scares where I have tried GF for a few months to see if it helped my symptoms, and my mother is a celiac and so I was raised nearly GF. I agree with everyone else-- the trick is not to stuff yourself on GF pastas and breads, but to avoid grain based foods entirely. This is a good opportunity to go semi-paleo (which is healthier ANYWAY). There are some good GF pastas, or just sub spaghetti squash. Bread is a miss, to be honest. there are some sortakinda passable GF breads, but none are going to be bouncy-squishy sammich bread, or chewy sourdough. Sauces and condiments are going to be your biggest hidden culprits. Learn how to read labels fo sho.

Crockpot365 is a slow-cooker-recipe blog whos owner does everything GF, so its a good place for ideas. Also, Annies has a GF mac and cheese and its DA BOMB. That is all.

btw, sizzle, your puppychow stuff- can you make that with "natural" peanut butter? the stuff that needs stirring and is kinda... gritty? rustic?, that doesnt have shortening mixed into it? its got a very different texture than the PB pictured, so Im not certain how it will behave in your recipe
