It wasn't PMS at all, Jennifer.. you're such a female dog. :D :p

Lovely photos... there might be one or two I'd see about slightly altering the levels with, but none of them truly need it. Color and focus are spot-on. You have a good eye. I'd love to see more of Kadin.. he's such a gorgeous boy.

if you do not mind a little advice.. the pics are much to dark. i know you said you are just toying with the new camera. what kind do you have? p.s. or digital? etc. my father is a photographer by nature ( he is a Dr full time), he has been for 32 years, althou the color is semi good, i would work on more light in the right side of the pics. to me it looks like the dog is being "cut-out" if you will, and needs more of a surrounding.

again i apologize for the comments, it is just nature being photographers daughter.

good luck with the pics
I Completely and totally disagree. (and i studied at the art institute and took photography there, and was chosen in the best of college photography a special edition....);) I Think the pictures set off the subject to the greatest! What a wonderful use of a rare sunbeam. Thumbs up. The color makes me want to paint again!

He's so pretty, his expression in the last one is so sweet. I love the color of his coat and how shiny it is. Great job with the pictures.

PuppyLover, like I said, it probably came out witcheyer(sp) than I wanted it to, but I didnt know how to word it any different.
I wasnt attacking you, I was just saying that it annoys me when people say stuff like " well my dad is in this hobby/proffession so that means that I know what im talking about" I see what you are saying about the professions of my examples, but I think you got my point.
and I will say it again, I did in no way mean to make you feel "attacked" I just was thinking aloud, which I shouldnt do when I am in a bad mood.

Kadin is too handsome for his own good. Don't be surprised if you wake up and he isn't there. I think I need to borrow him.

um, not to get into a pissing contest

FYI IMO an art institute is no match for a REAL college photography classes. my father has had 32 years of experience, he also taught as a photography teacher for colleges as well as at a high school for 3 years, he also held up 1st place in many a contest for photo's, he also has his own photo shop and studio as well, he does weddings, outdoor events ( the sundance film festival held in Park City every year) he does. so, based on your statement that you supposedly studied art in photography, just what did you learn?

I've got an idea, make a new thread! A thread JUSt for you guys to talk about your skills and your non-skills or whatever you want. And let's get this thread back on topic. :)

And that's a SERIOUS idea, not being mean and not targeting you puppylover, I'm talking about everyone who is derailing this thread. :)

Don't even worry about it. Some constructive criticism never hurt anyone, if you have suggestions then speak up about it.:)
ok, that said, what i would suggest is to use a background of maybe an off brown color, not to light not to dark and just hang it up around the area you are going to shoot, in this case it is lifeform, and kinda still, you would use a backdrop. colors that you can also use would be a soft black, again not to dark not to light. then i would use a backlight behind the backdrop to "lighten up" the mood. Then i would get overstuffed blanket or pillow, dealing with sun is very very trickey, but, my father can capture sun moment like no other, i will have to get his website to show you some of his work. he does great. you are starting off good, just keep practicing, the thing with photography is if you make a mistake you can use always tints and colors ( like do a black and white with color) that always looks cool, like you could do your pup in BW and then add color to it.

Well, I've got no class experience in photography, a $200 point and shoot camera, the light available in my house and a few handheld shots.:p

Either way, I do appreciate the suggestions though.

Wow! I'll keep all that in mind, but for the time being I'm just shooting him where he ends up in the house.:lol-sign:

and that is a good way to start, my son, who is 13 years old, follows everyone around the house and snaps photos here and there, then, when i download all like 10,000 of them LMAO, i notice he has a talent, and all it was was a point and shoot.

but, ya, when you can get him to settle down ( like when he is sleeping) you can practice on him. good luck.

I think the only pissing contest people are going to get into is how much they will wet themselves reading this statement. Do you even think about what you type before you post it? "An entire college dedicated to the teaching and enchancing of art skills is no match for a couple of classes?" WOW. Just...excuse me while I go change...and find some aspirin. If you're such the "photographer's daughter" then it's a real shame none of daddy's talent rubbed off...

APBT Danno, so sorry to continue derailing your thread. I'll just flat out say, don't listen to a thing this person posts ever, anywhere, about anything, but especially not about art.
