"Gifts to never buy a friend's/ families' kids ???

That's what I was thinking too but some of the comments seem more annoyed then humorous. Heck I like playing with most of those toys they listed lol ESP the loud blinking, siren-y, or interactive ones like the fur-real friends pets & stuff.
But I do have to admit that furby always creeped me out
As a kid I always like board games (candy land & chutes & latters were my faves ) I for one would rather buy a kid something like this instead of a toy or game that wasn't age appropriate or something (kind of like buying someone's dog rawhide, or smoked bones. I know some folks think its fine but not everyone wants their dogs to have those). So I guess hitting for kids is kind of the same way.
When in doubt, OH & I (he has three sisters with kiddos both here & in Mexico) we either get them clothes, or call their moms & ask them.
