Okay so I know it may seem a bit premature, since Matt *just* got hired and I'm working a minimum wage job until I hopefully get this sales rep one, but I was talking to my dad about the options and this makes the most sense right now.

The van we have is... dying. Rapidly. It's simply not a reliable vehicle and with all the commuting Matt's going to be doing it's only going to die faster. If I get this sales rep job we will need a second vehicle no question. My dad (VERY kindly) offered to buy one for us and we could pay him back for it over time instead of having to finance it.

This is what I'm getting!!

2002 Volkswagen New Beetle 2dr Cpe GLS Auto SILVER Hatchback 2 Dr.. A Volkswagen New Beetle at Alliston Volkswagen Alliston ON

She'll need a name. I'm thinking something German and girly, but ideas are welcome!!

Why the Beetle? Why not the Jetta? Beetles are cute and all, but I think the Jetta's are a bit more, well, practical.

The beetle is what they have on the lot that isn't WAY out of our price range (this is the dealer where my dad works, so it's employee pricing, which helps a lot). I much prefer the Jetta too, even the Golf would be more practical (for all intents and purposes the Beetle doesn't have a usable backseat). But sometimes you take what you can get ;)

Thanks guys!

Names I've been throwing around (though I'll have to drive her before I settle):
Greta
Liesl
Lulu

Also "bug" names, though it's pretty cliche!

June
Lady
Stink
Potato

Also "litter bug" is high on my list, since cars are pretty darn terrible for the environment ;)

My friend has a Golf and she has had a lot of problems with it. All ironed out for now but it cost her mega bucks. One thing that really gave her trouble was the rubber seal around the door. When it got below zero it would stick and tear when she openned the doors. And it seems she is forever changing the front headlights, just changed one yesterday. Great car otherwise but I've heard great things about the Beetle also.

Thankfully part of the bonus of getting this from my dad/his dealership, any of these sorts of kinks have been taken care of prior to me getting it. Nothing really needed attention, but knowing I was the one getting the car my dad replaced the brakes, the timing belt, new tires, and EVERYTHING got thoroughly tested/checked to make sure I wouldn't have any issues with it.

Snip - those are working vehicles, it's hard to get around using a lot of fuel ;)

I'm putting almost 200 litres a day through the excavator right now...thankfully the customer is supplying the fuel on this job! Bonus though? I think it might be all of 4 kilometres to get to the job site from home!!

I think she is very appealing. How about Hildegarde? You could call her Hildy. Or Hedwiga. These are names of my aunt and her relative, by the way. My uncle Milos married a German woman.

I obviously believe that this thread is too old for a reply, but I can't help but post a comment. Anyway, the care is in great shape and believe that it is in good condition too. In case you need it repaired or any problems about cars, you may want to visit this website New Jersey Auto Glass, I have no doubt in recommending this site cuz it made my car terrificly fine after some auto repair shops had refused it.:)
