I can't tell you the number of calls that I get from owners who want to rehome a dog because they're pregnant.
Human baby TRUMPS fur baby time and time again, far too often for no tangible reason.
Although I do remain calm and I do manage to fake understanding for their dilemma while I remove the dog and look for a new, better, FOREVER home....sometimes I want to hand them this as a parting gift. (of course I stop myself);)

Sad that people are willing to give up thier Dog for a baby.
I don't see why people do this, but unfortunately they do :(

Great Advertisement.............Hey, i wonder if i have to be having a puppy for them to take my kids? :D :p

Oh, I think you should send it to them . . . about six weeks or so after the baby is due to arrive . . . when they're sleepless, irritable and have realized that their lives are officially over and they are at the mercy of a tiny tyrant who dictates their every activity and can't travel without an entourage and carload of expensive luggage and accoutrements . . . :D

Too funny. Lol

The other day one of my aunts was actually complaining to my mom about all of our dogs. She told us that we should get rid of all of them. My mom told her, "Heck, Mel.. This girl would kick ME out of my own home before she'd even dream of giving up her dogs!"

So true :D

I do not understand it either so sad, some people think animals are just a thing to throw away.

There was a time a doctor thought my sister may be allergic to cats, so he said well get rid of the cats and in a few weeks you will be able to tell.
He actually got MAD, because we were like, uh NO.

I've heard the 'you need to get rid of the cats' thing a lot too :D

I can understand rehoming the dog when they don't accept the child, but way too many don't even try it out... Why having pets when you know you're going to have children, if it's just to get rid of them at the time?

For sure, I just rehomed a dog (6 month old puppy) last week named Mylo. The owners couldn't have been more wonderful but with 3 boys who would just not comply with the rules regarding the puppy, they knew it just wasn't fair to the pup to continue to put him through the constant mayhem.
I've been working to find a new home for Mylo for weeks now and the owners continued to attend puppy school and train Mylow so that he would be ready for his new home.
Most often though it's a couple who have decided to start a family and no longer care to include the dog in their future plans..

That is what gets me. " DISPOSIBLE DOGS" as I call them. I could understand rehoming if all avenues have been explored and nothing works but alas it is work so just easier to pawn the dog off on someone else.
That is ok because as long as their are " DISPOSIBLE DOGS" I know there are and always will be those of us out there to take them in. One day there may be enough of us to cover the flow.
Loved the little card and I think I would be sorley tempted to print them up and hand them out.

That ad is too funny, but at the same time sadly true. I got Lawson when I was 3 months pregnant, and he was more helpful then my husband. He got up with me in the middle of the night, he was my shoulder to cry on and someone who would listen during the post-partum phase. Now he's my 3 1/2 year old daughters best friend too. I couldn't imagine going though it all without him! ;)

Thanks, and it's the truth. He's what kept me going, and helped me keep my sanity. (Or at least some of my sanity ;) )

At the shelter we had a GORGEOUS purebred red Doberman boy, he was only about 4 months old. A lady bought him and said she paid $1200 for him, only to toss him away at the shelter when she found out she was pregnant.

Ah well. That awesome pup has a great home now.

I can't stand it when people get a new puppy and then dispose of their older dog. I mean, if you have a new baby, would you give away your older child??? Some people....
