Getting a Betta fish!

I havn't had fish for a while. We always used to have gold fish, but I want something different. I looked up info and pictures on Betta fish and I really like them. I was going to buy one last week, but I wasn't fully set up so I decided to wait. Next time I'm in town, I'm going to get one for sure, they are so pretty. It's going to be so hard choosing from all the pretty colors, but I know I will get one with lots of blue (of course)... hehe. I'm so excited!

Oooh! My first fish was a Betta. He had a white body with purple and blue and red fins. His name was Skipper and he lived for 1 1/2 years (long time for a fish a 6 yr old was taking care of LOL)

Cool! The longest living fish I had was Goldy the gold fish, LOL! She lived for 2 years and I was about 6 years old as well.

Which reminds me, I need to get another Betta soon...Skipper II maybe (He was my only Betta, all of the other fish I'd had over the years were fancy guppies)

They are realy nice fish but be careful they tend to jum out of their tank I had 2 beta fish a girl and a boy and the girl jumped out wile I was at work and died and the male did it infront of me once I had to run and take him inside the tank. If U take really good care of them they will live for a long time.

Yes, this is my first betta. The other fish i've had were different types of goldfish and a butterfly tailed guppy.

I will be getting only one betta. I know that more than one might fight, especially the males, but I only want one any way. How do you tell the genders apart?

Females are pretty to. They can be more colourful then males. Males have long tails and females have short tails.

You need at least a 1 gallon bowl. You need to clean this bowl every 3-4 days. Feed the betta twice a day. once in the morning and once in the afternoon/night. Go to this website called www.petfish.net/

OMG, The bettas for sale on that website are so beautiful...I'm used to the petco ones. lol

May I suggest you get your betta from a private breeder?
And try and get a tank of at least 3g.

Oh, I should really update you guys, shuoldn't I? Well I got my Betta, whose name is Kipp, on Friday! He is a little beauty and he's doing great!

I will show you pics once I get some clear ones...
