I have a GSD that I got from my sister who rescued her from an awful abusive situation. Even though she was severly abused as a pup Chiana has learned to love and trust again. She definately is my protector. I just love the look of the GSD. Chiana has a look of I'll eat you one moment and be very intimidating (which is all just a look, she can't even hurt a fly, lol) and the next be full of puppy energy, bouncing all over yard with her ball. There's a pic of her in my avatar. She's definately my girl.

My Shepherds have gotten along well with everything from cats to Terriers to a blind Australian Shepherd and now Filas . . . You introduce your Shepherd to the "family" and tell him or her that they are now part of the family :)

Wow! I was driving to search and seek some dogs in an area and I saw a German Shepherd with a small white dog running towards my car. I got so excited seeing the GSD; he seems to be an year old and was very charming. I was surprised how the white little dog was running with him. I was surprised to see that The GSD had a very trim look on his body; like he wasn't too hairy as what I know about this dog; maybe they trim his hair? He was happy and friendly.

I followed him with my car on the sides and he would stop and look at me; I kept on following him from back and side ways but he would keep on playing but watching me at times. Then his owner came on his car and the GSD and the whiet dog followed that car; I took my car behind the dog owner's car when the GSD was a bit behind playing and running and when he saw my car is very near and behind his master's the GSD ran very quickly (leaving behind the white dog) and went straight right next to the driving seat door of his master and he turned back and looked at me. The awesome point was that he took action and protected/watched his master incase I was being someone bad and he wasn't barking at me and wasn't angry at me at the same time. Very Cool!

Thats a shepherd!!! The ability to analyze a situation and remain very calm, until they are sure the person is bad. Never reacting too soon but fast enough to keep its owner out of harm's way.

Ah, the shepherd stare. Caza constantly gives people the look, that make them back away. Hondo has started doing the "look" too. Today this guy went to pet him (while I was turned around not looking), and Hondo gave him a look like "you need to back off".

I've had people cross the street when they saw me walking Chiana. Sometimes I laugh, because she's in here goofy, bouncy phase at the time...some times I'm thankful that they've crossed the street, she's even pressed her body against my leg as we've walked by some "seedy" people.

If Dutchie sees someone suspicious she starts walking crosswise in front of me, kind of at an angle, like a body block. Its funny. She has the the stare too. I've had people cross the street to avoid us also.

I've had German shepherds since 1988, and before that grew up with a GSD mix. I absolutely love the breed.

Now I have two - the oldest is Trick, a Hawks Hunt's bitch (Suzanne Clothier lines) who is German lines on her father's side (AKC/CKC UD TDX) and mixed German and American performance lines on her mother's side. She's an incredible dog. Very loyal, very trustworthy in all situations. I rarely put a leash on her because there's no need to. She's done everything from herding to obedience trials to agility to fetching a beer. Truly a versatile dog! And she has helped me raise other pups, which has been wonderful. She's the one we take in to help with puppy class, because if there's a rambunctious puppy she "explains" to the pup that it can't act that way.

Here she is putting up with Khana (about 16 months old at the time) hanging onto her tail while playing last winter. Trick just turned ten.

And my other shepherd is a sable bitch, Tori, who is German and Belgian lines. She's got a very impressive background, but due to a lack of handling when she was very young (and a scary trip in a kennel on an airplane) she had multiple problems when I got her. Even so, she has worked through many of those and is a very loving and athletic girl. She would probably prefer to be in a home as a single dog with a person or family who would dote on her, but at least with me she is well taken care of and fed. In spite of her shortcomings, her temperament has been exquisite and she is very gentle with people (I've even taken her to the nursing home to visit). She's been trained in agility and is very speedy and agile, but she doesn't do well under the stress of competition so I've never pushed her into it.

I can't imagine not having a shepherd in my life. They're kind of the family choice in dogs - both my Mom and my sister have GSD's too. I feel safe with the girls here .. they are socialized and good with people, but I have no doubt that they would also protect me.

I wish I could figure out how to get the pic's up of my dogs. I put one in the photo post area of Jeff von berma one of my dogs. He is a American Canadian show Champion. A dog that has a stability of quaility breeding.

Now it is really strange about that dog. He is now turning 9 yrs old. We just bred him to Miss Fritz 5 months ago. I really did not think we'd get anything out of the breeding since he was never proven till now. We have a beautiful litter and I will be starting the pups with their Ob training. Just a load of fun for now. No presuring just imprinting.

I love the breed and I know the dogs I have would do just anything for me. We have a Dob in the house go figure a male. Now my girls have no problems accepting any dog. They are all welcome. But Donkey Kon (Stupid Name) Owners gave him. Well he is not house trained at 6 months of age. So he lets go in the front room. Well with that my Gsd's went over and gave him royal Trouble for doing it. Boy did he think twice about doing that in the house again. So they are not just apart of the family but work well assisting me train other dogs too

Your shepherds Cindr are beyond quality and beyond awesome to see.

Yes made that trip too! I am very interested in the german shepherds so I go see what is available in Ontario.

Miss Fritz and Miss Joy were just over the top and both excelled with working abilities.

I believe you were the one who said that female shep you were looking for; Glory Bound; was a full sister to these two. Did I get that right?
