I think the dogs would probably love playing "eat the leftovers" :D

Seriously, maybe some hide and seek type games? You'd just have to be careful and make sure none of the dogs participating were inclined to get possessive. And you could always have races, maybe even human/dog races with each person paired with their dog on leash. The first dog to drag his person across the finish line wins, lol! Of course, that might undo someone's 'heel' training . . .

They actually have an interesting board game i saw somewhere..i will try to find out what the name of it was. People were to get together and you drew a card then you did what the card said with your dog..or a group did with their dogs..does anyone else remember when it came out about a year ago? would be easy to make your own made up version. I didn't see this thread until today so it is probably too late for your potluck but just an idea for the next time around. I will check around on line and see if i can find it. (i thought it looked like a lot of fun)
ok i am still looking but here is the one i think i saw them do on tv
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005LL02/ref=nosim/ticsto778/103-4800025-9847017
i am not sure if this is the right one..in the tv spot it showed the people drawing cards and doing what the card said and if they succeeded they got to advance on the board. still looking
in the meantime this site looked like it had some interesting links

hahaha, tq for all the links and ideas, i remember we had some games that night like:
1) fatest recall : call the dog, after the dog reach u, u hv to carry the dog run back to the finish lines.. so .. its abit difficult for me to carry my 15 kg jojo.. anyway, we hv a gud laugh for this game..lucky we dont hv saint bernard..
2) longest down stay, i think this is quite common
3) human fastest eating.. costume.. etc.

i think will be more fun if our dogs know little bit basic obedience,
i enjoy the recently few mths back a dog event i went :
1) musical chair.. we hv to heel dog on the left and walk round 6 chairs with 7 owners, once music stop, owners hv to sit stay their dog outside the circle and quickly sit on the chair, if the dog move, hv to go out and sit the dog again and others might come and sit your chair, those cant manage to get a chair to sit will be out, slowly will decrease the numbers of chair til we get the winners.. this is very interesting to me. and fun too.

2) agi-obe run, owners and dogs weave tru the cones together and sit stay the dog at one end and the owner run back to the finish line and then call the dog, fastest pair will won the game.

3) fastest eating - after human finish dry cornflakes and chocolate only dog start eating their kibbles.. this is hard because it just stuck in between your teeth and cant swallow.. but i guess all dogs enjoy this game~

smkie,
copy cat games look fun, i m sure one day we will try this. we did suggest this game before but too bad not many owners n dogs luv tricks, so they change to something everybody can enjoy instead.. haha

hopefully those games we post up there will be someone out there try it out and tell us how it goes on the other end of the world.. haha
hv fun~
