I know I will probably only get one more dog (Francis coming home in 4 weeks) for many many years, most likely, so I don't even let myself think about names because it will make me want more dogs haha. But being 24 and knowing I will have kids eventually- I think two dogs will be plenty... maybe three one day when I buy a house.... ;)

If I did get a third- I'd probably go with a similar feeling name- Saint ish... (St. Francis, St. Jude) and go with something like Julian or Adrian.

I never intended for it to happen and I'm not catholic, but my dogs are named after saints right down to their middle names- Jude Nathaniel and Francis Gabriel. Looking at the list of common saint names... Silas Adrian would be pretty freaking cute with my other two haha... not getting ideas!

I will say I definitely know my top kid names are Mary and George. My poor little boy is going to stuck being a George... but I love simple and traditional names.

Dogs names I might use:
Beau
Colby (this is probably what I'll use for MY first dog)
Cisco
Rambo
Boone
If I ever get a girl I don't know what I'll do.

If I get another (male) cat it'll be Mr. Eko (assuming I don't get to keep my cats, Eko and Neko are too similar sounding).

I want a Payton after Walter, but I'm sure most people would hear "Payton" and think "Manning." And that's not what I intend. So it's on the list but it probably will be a long long time... Manning needs to retire first I think...
When we settled on Tipper and started telling people what her name was ALL I heard was "Oh like Tipper Gore?"

Yes. Exactly like Tipper Gore, because who wouldn't name their dog after Tipper Gore who NO ONE EVEN KNEW her name before they got divorced (which happened right before we got Tipper). Argh. To be fair I'm sure some people did know her name before that....but not the people that were giving me crap about it.

I have a sizable list of names for future pets/children but I tend to forget all of them when I'm naming a new addition. All I know is that if I ever get a male basset hound his name WILL be Toby. And it will be pronounced the way it is in the Great Mouse Detective. *nods*

I keep lists on my iPhone. (Secret lists as it's kinda crazy.)

Anywho, I while love Bailey's name and totally think it fits him and can't imagine him with any other name, I also didn't realize that it had become a girl name since the late 90s (Party of Five), lol. Which makes me feel kind of bad because everyone assumes he's a girl, though of course he doesn't care. All to say that his sister's name is going to require careful consideration. Unless I name her Sidney, which would be kinda funny, at least to me.

Haha, yup. Unfortunately most of the characters have names I wouldn't name a dog- Jack, John, Kate, Richard, Desmond, Miles etc.

Sawyer I like but there are too many on Chaz already lol. I could maybe go for Hurley though. We almost named Tucker Charlie after Charlie Pace lol.

Long, long, long list. Some are designated to a specific breed, some will just go on whichever dog it fits. All of the names have some special meaning or are literary/film references.

Girls: Trillian, Banjara "Jara", Ursula, Laska, Cowboy, Figment

Boys: Moss, Calcifer, Howl, Livingston, Trout, Spyridon

There are bunches more. Also, my future goats are going to Humboldt and Pipedream.

I've got a huge whole list (like 20+ each of boys & girls names!)... I don't think I'll narrow it down until I actually meet my pup. :D
Hehehe, met too! I have an alphabetized color coded list about three pages long (with registration names and call names). Final decision will depend on the puppy! I guess I just have fun thinking them up :)

I have a small list of registered names, sometimes with call names to match and other times just knowing that one day I'll want to use that registered name. The list of call names is much longer. I did consider one day thinking up registered names to match the call names... I was bored at work... but I never really got around to it. I did do some googling for "good registered names for a dog" LOL but it didn't turn up much.

The only call name I've come up with is "-Kennel Name's- Undefined Crime". Call name would be Cin.

As far as registered names go, the only one I've gotten really attached to is "(Kennel Name) My Aim is True" with the call name "Alison." It's from the song "Alison" by Elvis Costello.

Which reminds me...I also like the names Costello, Lennon, and Bowie for a boy dog.

I generally don't come up with names until a few weeks after having the animal.

With the exception of one bitch that was going to be out of Morgan, was going to be a black tri and was going to be more evil than her mother. I knew what her call name and her registered name would be. And this was when Morgan was about six months old, and long before I decided Morgan wasn't breeding quality. I still hold on to those names and maybe some day I'll have just the right puppy to use it on.

I also did have a name I tossed around a bit when deciding on a registered name for Nyx, and it just didn't fit her very well, but again, I am hopeful to get to use it sometime in the future.
