I am keeping it as low as i can..everytime it clicks on i feel a little more broke.
Plus this particular furnace must have the biggest dragon in it for it blast us with super dry heat..make you feel like you have been preserved in the dessert..then it stays off and your actually grateful. I have water for the air but when that first blast comes out you can't help but think OH NO...do you think it bothers the dogs as much as it does the people? They don't walk around snuffing like i do. Still..how much longer till spring?

Heat

I wish everyone who posts here would at least put the state they live in on their profile! (Except for those that live in the "state of oblivion", roflolololol). It sure would help those of us such as myself with no memory retention for such info.

Anyway, living in the Panhandle of Florida it can and sometimes does get bone-arsed cold. Thankfully it has not gotten as bad as it can for many years. I remember the year my mom died (1985) in January it went down to 4 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave it to Florida, lol.

I had to get a new furnace two winters ago, so it still does a pretty good job. In a trailer the vents are in the floor, which I think makes a big difference.....you don't have the hot air blasting down on you. And I use my ceiling fan during the winter-----I have it set to pull the air UP, rather than blowing down on me. Does wonders for helping circulate the warmth.

Of course I have a gigantic advantage having so many dogs. Their body heat does a lot toward keeping it warm in here. It is nice and comfy in here without heat even when it is 39 degrees outside.

My heart goes out to all those who live in the colder areas and who will have to struggle to pay their heating bills this winter. The hurricanes will impact everyone in the country this winter, one way or the other.

For those that don't have to run to the bathroom every few minutes (the joys of old age, rofl) they do have those adult sized "bunny suits", with the drop drawer and the footsies built in. They are really warm. Have a friend who used to have one years ago, believe it or not, lol.

Also, a vaporizer will help to warm up a room.....or if you can afford it, boiling a pot of water on the stove. But of course, the best way to stay warm is a nice down comforter!!!!!!!!! If the dogs will leave you room to get under it!

I hear ya, smkie. here is PA it gets darn cold. when the furnace comes on, I cringe a little now. we have oil heat, and altho gas has dropped...heating oil hasn't...of course. I am lucky that I happen to like it only around 60 degrees. Dave wears thermal unders. the cooler temp is healthier (for me anyway) I think. I sometimes get that sinus dry feeling, but my allergies are killer in March and Sept., so this is bliss for me now. guess this year we'll use the fireplace more, I do have wood coming out the patootie here. it's pouring rain today...but not too cold outside, 47. if only it would stay in the 40's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then have spring in March...OH, that would be GREAT. (a girl can dream, right?)

I always had my window open until I moved here. My bedroom's small and the dogs liked to sleep near or out the door, so I leave my door open . When I lived in Quebec, I used to have snow on my floor in the mornings !!
