Ok, well Riley is 12 weeks old now. She has been wonderful in the house etc.
She recently (over the weekend twice) has decided she cant hold it and pees in her crate. Her crate is small so you would think that it would be not very comfortable. Anyway, today I had a dr's appt and PT - she did drink alot this am and I made sure she peed before I left at 830. I got back at 1145 and pee all over the crate. Is anyone else dealing with this issue? She goes all night long without an incident. Although she did go in it the night I wasnt home and my husband obviously didnt hear her. Am I being unreasonable in my thinking? I just dont get it. Please help.

I think your pup might just be too young to hold her bladder for over three hours during the day. At night, puppies can hold it longer because they are sleeping, but during the day is another story! My dogs were like that too as puppies.

Puppies do not normally want to relieve themselves in their crate, since it is supposed to be like a "den" to them. :) That is one of the important principles of crate training. However, if Riley is confined in her crate for too long and has no choice but to pee in it, that instinct not to go to the bathroom in her crate might get messed up. So, if you are going to be gone for longer than she can hold it, it might be a good idea to confine her to a small enclosure/puppy pen with puppy pads or newspapers on one end instead of keeping her in her crate. :) Good luck!

Update....

It is i a mild UTI. If this is a behavior issue wouldnt she do it all the time?
The vet said if the meds dont work and she still does it then it is a behavior issue. Any opinions?

She is also 12 weeks old -- a BABY. No matter how well she has done, she doesn't have perfect control at this age-- some dogs have little control at 12 weeks. At this age it is mostly YOU that is trained to get her out when she needs to go to preventy accidents. I would make 100% sure that after she has had anything to eat or drink that she gets to go out and make sure she goes-- sounds like a no brainer , but most people tend to PUT the dog out instead of TAKING the dog out.
Make sure you clean out that crate really well with odor neutralizer. If the peeing in the crate continues and it seems that she has lost that inhibition, you can try feeding her in her crate. Dogs don't usually want to pee where they eat. I have had dogs that had lots the inhibition to pee in their crates because of having to do it in the shelter- feeding in the crate did the trick- but I doubt that's the problem in your case- it's just a young pup.
