I have a friend, who has a friend that is a Senior in a wheelchair, and she has a German Shep mix who isn't urinating enough for the amount of water he drinks. The dog is around 10yrs old. She said the dog isn't lethargic, eating well, so its puzzling. The owner is on a fix income, so she says that the vet is the last resort financially, but I think the dog needs attention asap. My friend was asking me if there was anything that her friend could do to help her dog besides take him to the vet.. and I said I would talk to my friends on the dog board.

Any suggestions?

Why doesn't your friend offer to take the dog to the vet herself? Or maybe you guys can call the vet and see if you can bring in a urine sample for testing, without actually having to bring in the dog? May be cheaper but you may or may not get an answer as to what is going on.

Is it hot there? Sarama drank a lot of water for the ammount she eliminated during the summer . . . she was just panting it all off.

I have no idea why she can't take the dog to the vet herself. A urine sample is a good idea.. I'll suggest that.

Lila, I don't know.. this lady is from a chat site, so I don't know where they live.

*sigh*

If a dog needs medical attention it needs to be seen by a professional...
I agree. I told the lady that there are some vets that would allow you to make monthly payments towards the cost of the visit, but she said that they had called all the vets in the area and not one vet did that. :(
