i'm sorry for such a repulsive title, I forgot how it was to have a puppy!

Cloey is 10 weeks old a Maltese and a female if that matters ;) . I got her on Saturday May 28th. She ate well when she first got home. She is on canned food canidae mixed with Purina puppy chow - don't ask me that's how it was when i got her.

The guy i brought her home from said she just had a deworm treatment and might have some diarrhea. some turned out to be a LOT and not just loose stools like i'm used to (when the kids eat something their not). But this is full blown like i'm talking WATER. At first, I was like okay maybe they gave her too much? or maybe it's supposed to be like this. I don't know.. I just didn't think it was so big of a deal because she was drinking water fine, and playing with my other two which was a good thing and she was eating fine. Well this morning, she didn't want to eat, and when i fed her, only like 203 bites. i gave her nutrical, and she seems fine.. but i'm sorry this is gross but she is still having diarrhea, and bad! just right now it squirted out of her butt. like a stream.

I don't know what to do? is this normal, will pumpkin help? will anything? Or do I have to go to the Emergency Vet? (i'm on a very tight budget, just took a sick leave from work unfortunately :( ). I'm hoping that it's not something bad, but at the same time i'm scared to death.

thank you in advanced.

Try the pumpkin. Get rid of the Purina. You can give her some Pedialyte to cut the chance of dehydration. You might want to feed her some cooked white chicken meat and a bit of rice for the next couple of days or so.

Let us know how she is. Hopefully she'll start to firm up within the next day or so.

It is NOT normal and good quality dewormers should never cause diarrhea. I would be a little suspicious of this. Puppies are at a major risk for dehydration if they have diarrhea and it does not matter how much they drink, their bodies can't hydrate if it keeps coming out the other end  I would get your puppy to the vet right away and do away with the puppy chow. Your pup needs medical attention. Young puppies are fragile with delicate systems. Not wanting to eat is not a good sign. :(

Take her to the vet and ask for a parvo test. Is she current on all her vaccines? Parvo is characterized by massive diarrhea and/or vomiting, usually only puppies get the disease (I think the oldest case I've seen was a year old). If it is parvo it's crucial that she get to the vet to get sub-cue fluids and other treatment.

I'm not saying it's definitely parvo, but it's always best to be sure, it does sound suspicious.
Good luck and keep us updated, I'm sorry she's so sick!
