Found a tick on Zander

Last night, I got home from babysitting, and was rubbing Zander's head and I felt something weird. I looked at it, and it was a tick!!! I had been out for most of the night and my boyfriend took them out around 10ish, and he said that after they came in Zander kept shaking his head.

So, at first we were kinda nervous, and Aaron said if we burned the ticks butt, he would pull his head out, well we tried and it didn't work, so we got the tweezers(wh/made me even more nerve wracked), and ended up pulling out the whole thing, thank goodness! I wasn't sure if the tweezers would get the whole thing, but we got it! It was soooo icky and gross looking. We cleaned his head off, checked him and Rosco for anymore, and didn't find any.

My question is, should there be any side effects from it? Can he get sick? He is up to date on all of his shots, and is getting his next round of flea/tick prevention put on today, we use frontline plus, but haven't put it on in the last month. Should he be on the preventive year round?

I feel that all of my knowledge flew out the window b/c I was so shocked and scared from finding the tick! I have never seen one before in my life and really hope I don't again! Thanks for your help!

We went through a really long terrible period when Max was covered with ticks. We had taken him on this trail walk, and they wouldn't stop appearing everywhere! What was terrible was, he doesn't have short fur by any means. We depended all on our hands for finding them.

After the tick ordeal ended, Max was fine. He's been to his normal check ups and everything is normal. Zander will be fine, don't worry

Well...I went through a tick problem too.
Princess got 5 ticks on her. We took her to the vet and got her medecine and now she is great. Just keep checking for more ticks.
